FAMILY DISCUSSION GUIDE Isaac and Rebekah THE DIRECTIONS Imagine you are excited to play a new game or bake a cake, but you don t want to take time to read and follow the directions. What could go wrong? Who created us and knows what is best for our lives? Read Psalm 139:13-17. God has given us an instruction book to help us know the best way to live. Can you guess what it is? Read Psalm 119:105. Before Isaac was born, Abraham and Sarah thought they couldn t have children. What did God promise? Read Genesis 15:1-6. What directions did Abraham give his servant Eliezer about finding a wife for Isaac? Read Genesis 24:36-41. PRAY Heavenly Father, You created us and know what is best for our lives. Help us follow the directions You give us in Your Word, the Bible. Amen.
Isaac and Rebekah THE PRAYER When Eliezer came to the well, what did he ask God? Read Genesis 24:12-14. How much time would it take to draw enough water from a well for 10 thirsty camels? Would you volunteer to do all that work? What did Rebekah tell Eliezer when he asked for a drink of water? Read Genesis 24:18-20. What should we do when we are worried or unsure about something? Read Philippians 4:6-7. If we don t see an answer to our prayers right away, should we stop praying? What does Jesus tell us to do? Read Luke 11:9-10. PRAY Lord, thank You that we can come to You anytime and ask for whatever we need. Give us faith to believe You will answer at just the right time. Amen.
Isaac and Rebekah THE ANSWER How did Eliezer know for sure that God answered his prayer? Read Genesis 24:23-25. Were you ever so excited about an answered prayer that you forgot to be thankful? What did Eliezer do as soon as he learned Rebekah was from Abraham s family? Read Genesis 24:26-27. Abraham had countless descendants through Isaac, Rebekah, and their children just as God promised. Can you guess who are some children of Abraham today? Read Galatians 3:6-9. Sin separates us from God but what did Jesus do so we can enter God s presence? Read Romans 3:22-25. How do we know God will hear and answer our prayers? Read John 14:12-14. PRAY Dear Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross to pay the price for our sins so we can have a wonderful relationship with God. We love and trust You! Amen.
