Sayed Ammar, born in 1981, is the grandson of late Ayatollah Sayed Murtuza Nakshawani. He is a renowned and powerful Islamic lecturer. In 2003, he graduated from the University College of London in Psychology and Law with concurrent (minor) studies in political science in modern Britain. He completed his Masters degree in Islamic Studies and is currently completing his PhD at the University of Exeter. Sayed Ammar, an Islamic Historian, began lecturing at the age of 19 at youth discussion circles in London. His first international series of lectures were in 2003 during the holy month of Ramdan in Dubai at the age of 22. He has also lectured throughout Europe including the UK, Netherlands, France, Sweden and Switzerland. In 2009, an estimated 11,000 people attended his lecture on the 21st of Ramadan in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and over 6,000 people attended his Muharrum lectures at Le Parc, Toronto, Canada. Sayed Ammar's lectures are broadcast on a number of renowned Middle-Eastern channels with an emphasis on Islamic and inter-faith dialogue. He has also conducted interviews for television stations in the UK and North America. Page 2 G H A D E E R - E - K H U M G P S Where is Ghadeer-e-Khum exactly? The map shows the western section of present day Saudi Arabia. Ghadeer-e-Khum is located between Mecca and Madina. While returning from his last Hajj from Mecca to Madina, Prophet Muhammad (saww), along with his companions, broke the journey at a lake, 3 miles away from Al-Johfa. The Prophet (saww) halted at midday in a wayside tract of barren land with no shade other than that provided by a few acacia trees. Khum is the name of the Ghadeer which means small lake or pond in Arabic, therefore this place is known as Ghadeer-e- Khum. Are you IEC Husaini s friend? Are you following IEC Husaini? Handicap Parking Aside from the regularly scheduled weekly programs, the month of Dhul Hijjah offers multiple Jashan, Majalis and Eid programs that are well-attended Mash Allah. During the busy next few months, IEC unfortunately begins to encounter frequent unauthorized parking in its handicap parking spaces. As a friendly reminder, please remember not to park in the handicap parking spaces unless you have a state issued permit. The permit must be clearly visible through the front windshield or a handicap sign/designation must be on the license plate. The handicap parking rules and law are State and Federal mandates. They must be obeyed. Please note that violators will have their cars towed without notice at their expense. A handicap parking space at IEC Husaini will not have any less enforcement than at other public places.
