DIRECTOR OF MISSIONS Dr. Robert E. Tyson, Sr. RCBA Annual Meeting On October 18, God was all over the RCBA Annual Meeting. We saw our LORD bring together HIS family with a strong desire to work together. Person after person expressed appreciation to be a part of the Association. At least three people attending for the first time said, I enjoyed this. Another person said, I feel like I ve been in revival. Greenbrier First, along with its great pastor, Rev. Nathan Washburn, Minister of Music, Art Anderson, Ministry Assistant, Donna Heflin, and audio and sound man, Daniel Gray, did an outstanding job making the preparations and serving during meetings. The congregation, with its greeters and the many who served the wonderful supper, once again illustrated what Christian love and servanthood looks like. Thank you Greenbrier First. The Annual Meeting with dinner was from 3:00 PM - 8:05 PM. The organizational and committee reports were to the point and informative. Rev. Jerry Heflin preached a moving annual sermon. He spoke about having Godly mentors and reaching people through mentoring relationships. Rev. Luis Lopez preached a moving mission sermon. He articulated that we must be missional in our communities. We become missional by increasing our capacity for God, being more passionate about Christ, and becoming more consecrated. The messengers approved the Strategic Long Range Planning Task Force (SLuRP TuF) comprehensive strategy to assist churches who desire to impact their communities for Christ. Before presenting the strategy, the Task Force studied what the churches executive board members said their churches needed. It evaluated the latest population growth information along with areas on which the other Baptist entities are not able to focus. The result was a rapid response strategy that focuses on helping our family of churches. The messengers approved a mission team to help the Baptist seminary in Guatemala City, Guatemala. To see our video about the trip, go to www.rcbatn.org. If you are interested, call 615-384-8197 or email jbierod@rcbatn.org. An exciting moment in the evening came with the unanimous vote to receive Iglesia Bautista Rios do Agua Viva (Living Water Baptist Church), through our process for membership. We are grateful for Rev. Magno Roblero and his congregation s desire to join the RCBA family. Mark your calendar! Next year s Annual meeting is October 17 at Bethel Baptist Church. To God be the glory!
