What is Guided Imagery? Guided imagery is a gentle and powerful technique. focuses and directs the imagination in proactive, positive ways to generate certain impact. involve all of the senses and emotions. is beyond "mental" activity. engages the whole body-mind.
How to Lead the Practice of GI If it suits with the client suggestion for keeping the eyes closed to enhance the focus on internal images. bringing the bodymind to a state of relaxation prior to starting the practice of GI offering of physical comfort such as lying down or sitting comfortably
Metaphors and Archetypes Metaphor comes from Greek words methapherein, and metaphora that means to transfer a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. a thing regarded as representative or symbolic of something else, especially something abstract. Archetypes are universal, archaic patterns and images that derive from the collective unconscious and are the psychic counterpart of instinct according to Jungian psychology. They are inherited potentials which are actualized when they enter consciousness as images or manifest in behavior on interaction with the outside world. Unclear underlying forms or the archetypes-as-such from which emerge images and motifs such as the mother, the child, the trickster, and the flood among others.

Safety first Possible Contraindications to consider: Relaxation techniques are generally considered safe for healthy people. Certain relaxation techniques might cause or worsen symptoms in people with epilepsy, certain psychiatric conditions, or with a history of abuse or trauma. People with heart disease to talk to their health care provider before doing progressive muscle relaxation. Understand the images to be used and their impact on the individuals

Grounding Start and end the practice with grounding imagery and/or sounds. Be sure your practitioners are grounded enough to leave the session.
Topic and the Images Chose a topic Structure your words around the topic, similar to writing an article: opening, expansion of the subject and closure Chose symbols, images and archetypes that are relevant to your topic
