Preschool Edition JESUS FEEDS A HUGE CROWD At that time, Jesus was in a boat. When He came to the shore, He saw a large crowd. He felt sorry for them and healed all who were sick. When it was dinner time, the disciples said to Him, We are far away from the villages. There is no where for the people to buy food. Tell them to go buy food to eat. Jesus said, They do not need to go away. You give them some food. The disciples said, We have only five loaves and two fish. Jesus said, ring them here to Me. Jesus then told everyone to sit down on the grass. He took the bread, and the fish, looked to Heaven, and blessed them. Then He broke the bread, and gave the loaves to the disciples and they gave them to the crowd. There were about five thousand men who ate. There were 12 baskets full of leftovers. Then Jesus told the disciples to get in the boat and head to the other shore. Jesus finished teaching and dismissed the people. WHAT DO YOU THINK? 1. The people were hungry. One day, when our Lord Jesus Christ came ashore, He saw many people. He felt sorry for them and healed the ones who were sick. He also taught the people, for a long time. Evening came, and the disciples came to Jesus and said, We are far from a town and the day is done. Send the people to get some food for themselves. Jesus said, They don t need to go away. You give them something to eat. The disciples said, All we have is five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus said, ring them here to me. Then He told everyone to sit down on the grass. He looked up to Heaven and blessed and broke the loaves. He gave the bread to the disciples, who gave it to the crowds. Everyone ate until they were full. They gathered the leftovers and filled 12 baskets! Five thousand men, and also some women and children, had shared those five loaves and two fish. There was more than enough for everyone. Grades 3-5 Edition THE MULTIPLICATION OF THE LOAVES At that time, when Jesus went ashore He saw a great throng; and He had compassion on them, and healed their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, This is a lonely place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves. Jesus said, They need not go away; you give them something to eat. They said to Him, We have only five loaves here and two fish. And Jesus said, ring them here to Me. Then He ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Then Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds. WHAT DO YOU THINK? 1. In this Gospel, who does Jesus tell to feed the crowds? What do they use to do so? 2. What does Jesus do to help them feed the crowds? Does it help? 3. In Church, when does Jesus provide food for you? What does He use, to do so? 4.Why do we take communion? How does it help us? would like information on our present programs and future initiatives, contact Mrs. Carole uleza at aodce@antiochian.org.
