SAUDI from page 2 personhood as created by God. The Bible indicates that humans were created by a supernatural action and were created in the very image of God (cf. Genesis 1:26-28). It is important to note that it is not the human body that comprises the image of God; thus, a humanoid robot no matter how life-like could never possess the image of God. It is our human reflection of the Triunity of God and our appointed stewardship over the rest of God s creation that entails our likeness to God and our creation in His image. Moreover, for Saudi Arabia to grant citizenship to a non-human entity belies any understanding of the position of humans as merely sojourners on earth temporary visitors whose eternal citizenship is in Heaven, the abode of God (Ephesians 2:19; Philippians 3:20-21). This should not surprise us though as the kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ruled under the state sponsored religion of Islam. Also of no surprise is the rise in humans proclivity towards fascination with technology. Many Bible teachers point to a verse in Daniel that seems to indicate that technology will continually increase as the last days approach. The Scripture indicates that even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased (Daniel 12:4 KJV). Thus, we should only expect the manner that humans will seek to interact with, and embrace, technology to increase as the time of the Lord s return draws closer. PNL Is Prophecy Being Fulfilled in Jerusalem? There are certainly some exciting developments coming out of the Holy Land in recent news. The annual observance of the Feats of Tabernacles is a feast that is mandated in Leviticus 23:33-44 and is also known as the Feast of Booths, or Sukkot. Its annual observance took place in Jerusalem recently. This feast commemorates the Lord s provision for Israel during their 40 years of wilderness wandering after the Exodus from Egypt. PRAY: Pray that this event in Saudi Arabia will not cause greater confusion regarding the unique qualities of personhood as divine creations. Pray also that this event would cause many to question the kingdom of Saudi Arabia over their treatment of women as second-class citizens. STUDENT from page 4 Word because someone may be offended! Mark my words friends, the outright persecution of Christians for speaking the truth of God s Word is upon us! As much as this should concern and even frighten us, we should have been expecting this as the Bible clearly indicates such persecution in the last days. As we often remind you, the Bible teaches that this type of persecution of Christians will only increase as the last days draws closer. Matthew 10:22 clearly teaches that Christians will be persecuted and shall be hated of all men for my name s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved (KJV). This persecution not only manifests itself in the more obvious means of physical persecution, but also in the subtly of restriction of speech such as the case with Felix Ngole. Being expelled from your university for proclaiming God s Word in a public forum not directly connected with the university is blatant persecution and restriction of free speech. However, we must remain in prayer that God will work in this situation. We know the Gospel, and its corresponding Christian worldview, must be preached in all nations (including England), before the end will come (cf. Matthew 24:14). Let us be in prayer for Felix Ngole and all involved in this situation. PNL PRAY: Pray for Christians in England (and around the world) to have the freedom to speak on issues of public concern without fear of reprisal. Pray that this case would be overturned in appeal and that the UK court would recognize their error. Continue to pray for God s Word to be proclaimed by the faithful. PAGE 5 Observant Jews in modern times will construct tabernacles or tents / booths to live in for the eight-day-long celebration as one means of remembering the Lord s provision for their ancestors who dwelt in tents for the duration of the wilderness wanderings. Interestingly, according to statistics released by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, more than 47,000 Christian tourists visited Israel over the Sukkot holiday. The Sukkot holiday has a unique presentation in the Bible as it is described to have both a historical reference as well as a future, prophetic, reference. Many Christians recognize that three of the seven major feasts God commanded for Israel were all fulfilled in the New Testament era. For instance, the Feast of Passover was fulfilled in Jerusalem when Jesus was crucified for our sins at the time the feast was celebrated! Jesus arose from the dead on Sunday, on the Feast of Frist Fruits, as the first fruit of the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20). Pentecost was also fulfilled on the very date of the feast. It was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2). Yet, the Feast of Tabernacles remains to be fulfilled. In keeping with the fulfillment of the three feasts listed above, most Bible teachers expect the Feast of Tabernacles to be fulfilled during its assigned time frame and in Jerusalem. Many believe we could be witnessing a precursor to this with the increasing number of Gentiles traveling to Jerusalem during the time of the Feast of Tabernacles. Even devout Jews are noting this exciting development! As Jewish Rabbi Tuly Weisz indicated in his article in The Jerusalem Post, the most magnificent historical reference to Sukkot is found in 1 Kings chapter 8, where the prophet Zechariah describes the future, prophetic, elements of this holiday to be fulfilled in in the end of days. For example, the prophet Zechariah describes how non-jews will flock to Jerusalem in the messianic age: And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles (Zechariah 14:16 KJV). Weisz notes, describing Sukkot festivities separated by millennia, these two passages contain a common theme: the central role of the non-jew on the Feast of Tabernacles. In ever increasing numbers, Christians are rediscovering the Jewish roots of our faith and are inspired to bless Israel in various ways. Similarly, an ever increasing number of Jews are being awakened to the truth of Jesus as their Messiah. With such an exciting development currently taking place we should be in prayer for this situation. PNL PRAY: Pray that the Lord will continue to reveal Himself to our Jewish brothers and sisters. Pray for an even greater numbers of Christians to participate in the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem as we may be on the verge of an important fulfillment of biblical prophecy! ISIS Inspired Attack in NYC In an ISIS inspired attack similar to those we have seen recently in Sweden, France, Germany, and England, the horrific display of radical Islam at its worst has appeared in the United States in the form of a truck being used as a HINDSON weapon against civilians. A 29-year-old originally from Uzbekistan, has been identified as the man who heinously drove a small rental truck along a crowded bicycle and pedestrian path in New York City in a purposeful attempt to carry out a terrorist attack. Witnesses reported that the attacker screamed Allahu Akbar (Allah is great) after the crash as he attempted to flee the scene. According to numerous reports, the suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, who was living in New Jersey but also had an address in Florida, claimed he was inspired to commit the attack by ISIS videos he watched on his cellphone and the he wanted to kill as many people as he could. According to the complaint filed by prosecutors in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Saipov told authorities during questioning that he felt good about what he had done and intended to kill a greater number of people but the truck he was using as a weapon was stopped when he crashed into a school bus. Law enforcement officials initially reported that the attacker left See ISIS on page 3

Saudi Arabia Grants Citizenship to Robot Somewhat similar to a disturbing report we brought you last month, we again learn of another troubling example of humanity s continual movement toward the gods of this world (cf. 2 Corinthians 4:3-5) with the recent reports of the nation of Saudi Arabia granting citizenship to a humanoid robot! This shocking incident makes the kingdom of Saudi Arabia the first nation to grant citizenship to a robot. The humanoid machine is named Sophia and was designed to look like Audrey Hepburn. The robot was designed and created by entrepreneur David Hanson for the Hong Kong company Hanson Robotics. Hanson Robotics has a reputation within the industry for making human-like robots. This announcement coincided with an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia known as the Future Investment Initiative which is intended to connect the world s most powerful investors, business leaders, and public officials with innovative opportunities for investment. Sophia the robot was interviewed by the journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin who made the official announcement of the bestowal of citizenship. Without hesitation, the robot responded I want to thank very much the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I am very proud and honored for this unique distinction. This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship. This brought thunderous applause from the audience. Sorkin was reported as saying he was overwhelmed with his conversation with the robot. There was; however, no indication of the level of artificial intelligence this humanoid robot may possess. It could simply have been responding with a predetermined recorded speech to a set of established questions. But this is indicative of the low view of personhood held by Saudi Arabia and many others all around the world. Remember, that in Saudi Arabia women must wear headscarves in public and were only very recently allowed to drive automobiles! In Saudi Arabia women are largely treated as second class citizens; yet this robot who was granted citizenship was designed to resemble the human female in form, but there was no discussion of the extent of its actual rights as a citizen; if it will be as oppressed as actual human females are in Saudi Arabia or not. While at first glance this may appear to be a harmless publicity stunt, its motivations stem from a denial of the very definition of See SAUDI on page 5 PAGE 2

ISIS from page 1 a note indicating the actions were undertaken on behalf of ISIS. During an interview with law enforcement officials after his capture, Saipov further demonstrated his allegiance to the terror network by requesting that an ISIS flag be displayed in his hospital room. The attack left 8 people dead and 15 injured. The NYPD s deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism, John Miller, said that the suspect had been planning this [attack] for a number of weeks. It was quickly determined that Saipov rented the truck in Passaic, New Jersey, not far from the home where he lived with his wife and three children. He then drove the truck into Manhattan and turned onto the bike path at the intersection of Houston Street and West Street. A Port Authority camera installed in the area recorded the truck targeting bicycle riders and pedestrians, purposefully running them over as it traveled approximately threequarters of a mile along the bike path before eventually crashing into a school bus where the path crosses Chambers Street. Saipiov exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene brandishing what appeared to be two handguns, but was shot by a NYPD officer. The handguns were later reported to be a paintball gun and a pellet gun. In what has become a dangerous trend with this type of attack, law enforcement officials believe the suspect worked alone, but was likely radicalized as a result of exposure to ISIS propaganda videos on the internet. The nature and motivation of this attack is shockingly similar to that which has become unfortunately familiar around the globe and it appears to have made its way to the U.S. As with other attacks of this type, this shocking attack reminds us once again of the goal of ISIS. The ultimate goal of ISIS as with all of radical Islam is the complete religious takeover of the world and the conversion of all humanity to Islam, or the death of those who do not convert! This is NOT the supposed religion of peace that its practitioners claim. This is a violent religion that follows the teachings of a false prophet! The Bible warns us that such false prophets would arise as the End Times draw near. Matthew 24:11 warns many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many away from Messiah (Christ). The practitioners of Islam follow a false prophet named Mohammed who did rise (begin to teach his false doctrine) many years after Matthew recorded Jesus prophecies. Mohammed claimed to have been given revelation by an angel because the Jews and Christians had corrupted the Holy Scriptures. Again, the Bible warns us to be wary of this exact claim in Galatians 1:6-9 and labels those who would promote such false doctrine as accursed. Yet, the Gospel of Jesus birth, death, and resurrection must compel us to love, and witness to, those deceived by the false teachings of Islam. We must be in prayer for all those who are blinded to the truth of Christ and pray for their eventual salvation. PNL PRAY: Let us pray for the families of the victims of this attack in New York. Pray for God to comfort them as they deal with this terrible situation. Let us also pray for the countless millions of people being deceived by the false prophet and false religion of Islam. Pray also that this event would cause America to turn to God and that He would continue to protect our nation. PAGE 3

Student Expelled for Calling Homosexuality a Sin As our global society continues to slide down the slippery slope of acquiescence into the mire of liberalism we can see blatant examples of religious persecution directed at Christians. It is sickening that those who supposedly profess the virtue of tolerance are so vehemently intolerant of Christianity. The most recent example of this is the situation of Felix Ngole who was a student at Sheffield University in England. Ngole posted a message on his personal Facebook page stating that same sex marriage is a sin whether we like it or not. It is God s words and man s sentiments would not change His words. He added that the Bible and God identify homosexuality as a sin. It is important to note that Ngole was a student, not an administrator, faculty member, or staff member, or in any way representing the university. Ngole, who was a student studying social work at Sheffield University was immediately expelled for the comments and summarily removed from Sheffield University s two-year MA program following his Facebook comments! In what must be the most absurd contradiction of the ages, Sheffield University s official statement regarding this situation was that Ngole, was fully entitled to his religious beliefs, and had acted with honesty and integrity. Yet, despite their acknowledgment that Ngole acted with honesty and integrity the University indicated that by making his views public, Ngole may have caused offence to some individuals. Ironically this same university s website touts their mission to prepare our students for the world beyond our University but they reacted by expelling a student for expressing his beliefs via his personal social media outlet. Perhaps Sheffield University has no concept of the Internet as a vehicle for the free exchange of ideas. Sadly, after Ngole attempted to resolve the situation in court, a UK court agreed with the university stating that Ngole s public comments on homosexuality could be accessed and read by people who would perceive them as judgmental, incompatible with service ethos, or suggestive of discriminatory intent. The greatest danger in this ruling is that it amounts to an outright censorship of free speech; speech that was based on a widely accepted Christian interpretation of the Bible. Now that such a legal precedence has been established, it is only a matter of time until Christians will no longer be permitted to speak the truth of God s See STUDENT on page 5 PAGE 4
