A Letter from Father... Page 2 November 22, 2015 JESUS IS KING Ordinary Time has come to an end. This feast day of Christ the King marks the start of our Advent Season. The king we celebrate today is the firstborn, faithful ruler who has made us into a kingdom. We may think that everything is the way it should be. Christ is enthroned in glory and we are enjoying our life in his kingdom. But that is not exactly how things are, is it? Paris, France, is just one more horrendous event that testifies to that. We know there is still suffering all around the world. We know there is still sin in the world. We, more importantly, know there is sin and temptation in our own lives. It seems like a contradiction, doesn t it? But we must know that while Jesus truly is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, he has not come back to take full possession of his kingdom. And that means his enemy, the devil, is out there engaging in a battle with his lies and temptations and his evil, murderous ways. The strategy of the devil is not to attack us, but to depend on our complacency. When we fill ourselves up with thinking only of ourselves, we become indifferent to God. We ll also become dull to the Holy Spirit s presence and live only for ourselves. This is why the Mass is so important. At Mass, we remember and celebrate the power of Jesus resurrection. But even more, we receive JESUS. As we go into the Advent season, may the celebration of the Mass take up an important part of your life. Jesus is our King, a comfort in our affliction and our strength in battle. Peace,

Repeal the Assisted Suicide Law - ABX2-15!!! There will be a workshop on November 23rd at the Ministry Center of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church (6:00-8:30 PM), for the training on signature gathering in support of the repeal of the doctor prescribed suicide legislation that was passed earlier this year. Our bishop has asked that each parish conduct a signaturegathering petition drive to put the issue of assisted suicide before the general populace for their approval or rejection. All interested leaders from parishes in the Riverside Vicariate are encouraged to come to the training. As faithful citizens, let us serve the poor, the elderly and most vulnerable with our time and effort to gather support on their behalf and tell those in governance that the will of the people is stronger than the politics or special interest groups in Sacramento. Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Page 6 November 22, 2015 TRUE STEWARDSHIP The gospel message proclaimed throughout the New Testament invites us to live in harmony with the world. This is a challenge to care for the world and be stewards of all that God has given us. Like generations before us, we are entrusted with the care of the earth so that generations to follow may enjoy the same gifts. Sometimes, however, we are absorbed into the ways of the world. When we are of the world, we rely heavily on the power of wealth, beauty, fame and accumulation of material possessions. We want earthly possessions and carelessly turn our hearts from the responsibilities of stewardship and conservation. The readings today challenge us to walk away from the world so that we might inherit our share of God s kingdom. How we live our lives directly reflects our love for God. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Our Adoration Chapel Needs More Adorers The 24/7 Adoration Chapel at 13th and Lime of St. Francis de Sales is adding more adorers. We currently need additions to substitution lists, ongoing varying needs and MORE MEN on some early morning hours. For more information or to schedule a time, please call Fay at (951) 682-9076, or (951) 687-6681. A current email address and/or phone number is desirable.
