National Seminar on Role of Fine Arts and Yoga in Improving Human Development 23 April, 2016 Venue Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla organisers Department of Yoga Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and Pratibha Spandan Society, Shimla
National Seminar on Role of Fine Arts and Yoga in Improving Human Development 14 'Vidyas' and 64 'Kalas' have been enumerated in our holy scriptures. Vidya means the knowledge of God as well as the branches of knowledge leading to the goal of God-realisation. Kala stands for all other branches of knowledge, which help human beings to lead a good and happy life. Out of 64 Kalas, 5 Kalas are called Lalit Kalas (Fine Arts). Yoga, the timeless science behind all true religions, consists of systematic and definite steps to realization of the soul's oneness with Spirit. Though many think of yoga only as a physical exercise where people twist, turn, stretch, and breathe in the most complex ways, these are actually only the most superficial aspects of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul. Patanjali's Eightfold Path of Yoga are Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. The purpose of this seminar is to discuss the role of yoga and fine arts in improving human development. Modern age is the age of tension, anxiety, stress and other negative factors. Yoga and Fine Arts have a deep effect on the life of a person. Needless to say, yoga and fine arts not only give wealth and enjoyment, but they are also beneficial in balancing our life and treating a number of psycho-somatic ailments. It is in this context this seminar is being organised. Below are some areas for the presentation of papers. But this list is just suggestive. You may write papers on any other topic related to the theme of the seminar. The organisers hope that seekers from various places will come and enrich the corpus of knowledge. We await your arrival.
