TEMPLE NEWS As usual, the temple was full of activities during the past three months. Mahashivratri was celebrated on March 2nd. Hundreds of devotees offered milk abhishek on Shivlina of Lord Shiva. The ice Shivling was a major attraction for the temple goers throught the evening. The popular festival of Holika enkindling was performed on March 19 in the parking lot of the temple. Many worshipers with their children were seen circling the Holimata and getting her blessings. Small amount of Gulal was used to celebrate Holi and Dhuleti by spraying the same on each other and expressing affection and wishing well to all. In the month of April, Ramnavmi, birth day of lord Rama was celebrated by group reciting of Ramayana for seven days concluding on April 12 with puja and birth celebration of lord Rama. Sunderkand path was recited by a large number of devotees on Hanuman Jayanti. Chairman Dr Bharat Barai addressed the devotees thanking them for participation in all the events of the temple. Dr Barai also announce the dates for the upcoming Katha and Patotsav in the month of July, 2011. An interesting Gujarati drama was presented in the Mahalakshmi Hall on April 22.The annual free health fair was organized on Sunday, May 22 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. 350 patients took the benefit of this program by getting medical consultation, blood tests done and consulting with dentists, eye doctors, hearing test doctors, chiropractors and heart specialists. EKG tests were performed as recommended by the doctors. In all about 25 doctors and 100 health care professional volunteers provided the seva. Those diagnosed with ongoing medical problems are invited to get regular check up, tests and free medicines on the monthly clinic on the third Sunday of every month at 1:00 PM. This seva is also free. More than 50 female devotees and their families joined the Vat Savitri pujan on June 15, Wednesday. A special General Body meeting is arranged to discuss and approve the proposed additions and alterations to the temple property. Due the changing needs and the fact that the building is aging, these activities are considered vital for better use of the temple, afford longer life to the structure and definitely better facilities for the devotees.
UPCOMING KATHA AND PATOTSAV Like every year, mandir has arranged a Katha by Param Pujya Dr. Ram Kamaldasji Vedanti. Swamiji, who will talk about Bhagvad Gita from July 23, Saturday thru July 28, Thursday. Like every year.17th Patotsav of the mandir will be celebrated on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31. Detail programs including the timings will be displayed in the office and the bulletin boards of the mandir. All devotees are requested to mark these dates to benefit from these important events AGENDA FOR SPECIAL GENERAL BODY MEETING A special General body meeting of Members of Manav Seva Mandir will take place on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 4:00 PM in Mahalakshmi Hall of our temple.
