14-14 Department of Louisiana American Legion Family Remembrance and Prayer Lists This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us whatever we ask we know that we have what we asked of Him. (1 John 5:14-15) God reads the prayers of our heart even before they have been formed into words or vocalized by our mouth. Sick List For those who are having medical difficulties who are receptive to prayer offered on their behalf, let us continue to lift their names in prayer: 1
Prayer For The Ill Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort, You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servants in these illnesses. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servants. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from their body. Dear Lord, I ask you to turn their weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servants trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this suffering. Let them be filled with patience and joy in your presence as he waits for your healing touch. Please restore your servants to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from their hearts by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through their life. As you heal and renew your servants, Lord, may they bless and praise you. All of this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen Heavenly Father, may it be Your will that You heal the body and spirit of our friends whose names are listed below: Tony Betts, Kaplan Post 271 (Undergoing chemo-minor setback-now doing OK) (mail to: Tony Betts, Room G1271, P.O. In Memory Of The Deceased May you rest in peace, dear friend! Death has severed the tie that united us in this life, to be renewed everlastingly in a happier world I shall one day follow thee. Now, faithful to thy memory, I implore God to grant repose unto thy soul; and to grant to me the grace of a reunion when His holy will shall call me hence. Heavenly father, permit that the soul of the one for whom I mourn, freed from earth's painful struggles, dangers and difficulties, and purified through Thy mercy, may share the joys of the blessed in eternity. Amen. For The Bereaved We think we walk alone. When our loved ones are no longer with us, we are filled with elements of confusion. We don t immediately recognize that our God is our support and the purpose of our being. Loving others is our natural state. And when they are taken from us, we may become bitter. But that results from not understanding that God is in control of our every function and we are only players, hopefully acting as he wills. Dear God, grant us the grace to accept that life is not forever and help us to accept its effects on our being. Amen 6
Deployed Military SSgt Roy Loran, USAF (Qatar) (Son of Jackey Loran, Adjutant Post 450) Cmd. Sgt Maj. Carl Bellard, USA (Ft Hood Afghanistan) (Brother of Emma Simons, Lake Charles Unit 551) For Our Military And For All Who Serve The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou are with me. Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table for me in the midst of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over;sure goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalms 23) 7
