Random thoughts from Haiti Nearly four days after the earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince and a few other cities in Haiti, I have gathered some coherent thoughts that I would like to share in a random fashion with born-again Christian brothers and sisters elsewhere. - Millions of people pray for Haiti, but the important question is to whom are they praying? Is it to the true and only God who revealed Himself to humanity through His Written Word, the Bible, and His Living Word, Jesus Christ, His Son? Those are the only prayers the Lord hears. 1Peter 3:12: For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil." - What are we to ask God for Haiti and its people? Should it be health, strength, food, safety, housing or should we pray for conviction of sin leading to repentance? This is not saying we need not care for the sick, feed the hungry, show compassion to the heartbroken, and clothe the poor; but the display of true love is seeking the eternal wellbeing of our neighbor, not just the 1 / 5

temporal. Matthew 6:31-34 "Therefore do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. "The refore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. - As I woke up this morning in Port-au-Prince, daydreaming, dizzy, I knelt down, turned once again to the Lord, and asked this question: Lord, is Haiti the most sinful country of all the countries of the world? In His customary way, the Lord led me His Written Word for a response. Luke 13:1 - There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4 "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." - After witnessing this incredible show of power of God, I was reminded of David s fear when the Lord struck Uzza for touching the ark. Then of the passage in Hebrews 12:28, 29: Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire. Another passage that came to mind is from chapter four in the book of James, verse 12 to 14: There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. - The ruins of the Cathedral, the sacred heart church, and other idol worshiping high places in Port-au-Prince are only a temporary spiritual relief for the country. There won t be any demon worshiping at those places for a while, but money will be quickly poured to rebuild them; and the deception of Rome will continue. Matthew 24:4,5: And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, I am the Christ, and will deceive many. 2 / 5

- People who spent their entire life working to build their dream house were killed inside of it, destroyed by that very dream! Will this event change people s heart? It s unlikely. The Apostle Paul says in 2Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. This sorrow caused by the earthquake will bring about death as its fruit. It s not people s vulnerability and sadness that will ever lead them to Christ; but it is rather, conviction of sin and repentance that precede faith in Christ. - Do events like this one, offer the best opportunity to preach the Gospel? Not really! The truth is that the Gospel of Christ is not an emotional issue. Self-love and the fear of dying will make people have a shallow response during the shock and awe of the moment, but it will fade away almost immediately after the emotional sensations disappear. Where are all the so-called September-eleven converts in the US? I ll tell you where! They are out in the streets holding up signs in support of homosexual marriage, and abortion rights! Mark 7:6 He answered and said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. - I received a YouTube link via email from my daughter and I watched Pat Robertson s video verdict on the causes of the earthquake. God s self-appointed Press Secretary did not waste a minute to inform the world on the reasons why God s judgment fell on Haiti. Mr. Robertson s theory is that the Haitian slaves made a pact with the devil 200 years ago in order to free themselves from the French. That resulted, according to him, in a curse that led to the destruction of much of Port-au-Prince, and a massive loss of life in the earthquake of January 12, 2010. Haiti, to give some credit to Pat Robertson, is a pagan country. However, can he name a country in the face of the earth that is not pagan? Haiti made a so-called pact with the devil; does this imply that all other countries made a pact with God? 1John 5:19 says: We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. - Humanity stands in defiance of God s Word. They deny His sovereignty, they abhor His law, and they hate His Son. Every single country, in its own way, works in collaboration with the devil. I ll admit to you that I despise what current America stands for, I hate what it supports, and I detest its ways. I am opposed to its worldview, I abhor its entertainments, I am repulsed by the false gospel it preaches, I have vomited its Television shows, sports, sitcoms, music, pornographic industry, and its movies. The American society of today is tattooed up, full of effeminates wearing earrings and braided hair, packed with vulgar and filth speaking reprobates, over loaded with drugged-up-good-to-nothings, immoral-and-proud-of-it, self-centered, entitled, and defiant, daringly ungodly people. The United States has corrupted the world with its filth. With whom has America made its pact, Mr. Robertson? 3 / 5

- The idolatrous campaign and obsession with Mary worship with signs, T-shirts on a national level stating: Haiti, here s your mother!, the soon to come idolatry of debauchery in this year s Carnival, the idolatry of the World Cup (soccer tournament) in June, those things will soon be what feed the minds of the Haitian people in a few weeks. 2Kings 23: 3 Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant. And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring out of the temple of the LORD all the articles that were made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel. Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem, and those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven. - Voodoo has falsely been accused of being the greatest enemy of the Gospel in Haiti. The voodooists, if you permit me the use of that term, never claim to serve God. They don t try to make you believe that you would be serving God by practicing Voodoo. They know and admit to serving the devil. So, where is the deception then? Roman Catholicism, in contrast, wears sheep s clothing, but it is inwardly a ravenous wolf. It co-existed with Voodoo verifiably since the 18 th century, as almost all the spirits in Voodoo come from its corresponding saint of the Catholic Church. Now, one of those religions claims to be Christian, while the other admits to be in the enemy s camp. Which one is more dangerous to the souls of men? 1Peter 5:8: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. - Let us pray that the Lord uses events like this one to convict unbelievers everywhere of their sinfulness and lead them to repentance and for them to place their trust in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. Please, Mister and Miss Missionary, spare us your social gospel, stop coming here with your prosperity gospel, and keep all of your other false, man-centered gospels where you came from. Galatians 1: 6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. We must preach the Gospel with boldness and in truth. We must fight deception and false gospels with the weapons provided to us by the Lord: The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. 4 / 5

- Earthquakes are only one of the numerous signs that are to precede the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. There s a sign coming near you very soon! Do you know for certain, dear reader, where you will be spending eternity? Have you repented of your sin? Have you placed your faith solely on Jesus Christ, the Son of God as Lord of your life and Savior of your soul? Lastly, are you persevering in the faith? Matthew 24:12 "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 "But he who endures to the end shall be saved. Guy R. Mompoint OSS Ministry January 2010 5 / 5
