Proud of his work on gun safety, obesity, and smoking cessation, he said with a grin: I m telling you, if there is a God, when I get to heaven, I m not stopping to be interviewed. I m heading straight in. I ve earned my place in heaven. It s not even close. Is he right? The current popular belief Your religion is just as good as mine is it right? If we say That s not true, suddenly we re politically incorrect, a bigot and intolerant. I believe in tolerance in some areas, but not tolerance that sacrifices truth. And there s nothing today so intolerant as the intolerance against those who say there s truth and untruth, right and wrong. All religions are not of the same value. There are only two religions in the world: the true and the false; the religion of grace and the religion of works. This world doesn t need religion. It has too much religion. This world needs Jesus. In Genesis 4:1 15, when Cain and his brother Abel brought God an offering, it resulted in the first murder and the first martyr and it all came out of an argument over religion. God said emphatically Abel s offering was right and Cain s was not. Some kinds of worship and sacrifice are unacceptable to God. In fact, all are unacceptable except what He has told us He accepts, made clear from the earliest days of Creation. Before He swung this world into space, God had redemption by blood in His mind. From Genesis to Revelation, God repeats His message: without shedding of blood is no remission [of sin] (Hebrews 9:22). The Cross a bloody sacrifice casts a shadow across every Bible page, from the animal skin coverings God made for Adam and Eve, to the Passover Lamb, to the sacrifices at the wilderness Tabernacle, to the great Temple in Jerusalem, culminating in the final, once-forall atoning death of Jesus on the Cross. Sin is always and only forgiven through a blood sacrifice. God rejected Cain s offering because it was the result of Cain s works as a tiller of the ground. Jude 11 warns, Woe unto them for they have gone the way of Cain, the way of good works, salvation by his own effort just like the mayor rather than the grace of God. Culture rather than Calvary. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain (Hebrews 11:4). Abel offered a lamb representing the Lord Jesus, the Lamb whose blood takes away the sin of the world. How did he know to bring a blood offering to almighty God? When Adam and Eve sinned, they tried to clothe themselves with fig leaves the fruit of the ground. God came into the Garden and made them coats of animal skin. may jun 2018o o By Adrian Rogers Blood had to be shed. Abel learned it from his parents. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ was not an afterthought. God had redemption by blood in His heart before He ever made the world: the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). There is no salvation apart from the shedding of blood. Many say, I have my own religion. So did Cain, who died and went to Hell. Many, like the mayor, think they are too good to be damned, egomaniacs strutting to Hell. You re not saved by learning lessons from the life of Christ but by receiving life from the death of Christ. Nothing can satisfy the righteousness and holiness of God except the blood of Jesus Christ. Your sin will be pardoned in Christ or punished in Hell. Christianity can be summed up in three sentences: I deserve Hell. Jesus took my Hell. There s nothing left for me but His Heaven. Salvation by grace. Two religions, two ways. Cain and Abel. Vegetables and a lamb. The consequences of true worship are lasting, not only in time, but in eternity. Will you lay your pride and good works in the dust and say, Just as I am without one plea, but that Thy blood was shed for me. Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come. This message is taken from Dr. Rogers sermon: The Blood Makes a Difference (#2384). a new road Continued from front Every chapter spoke to me. Then I came to the chapter about salvation. I always thought I was saved. But then I realized I d never asked the Lord to come into my heart or be Lord of my life. Lying there, I told the Lord I was a sinner, asked Him to forgive and change me. At once peace came over me like I d never felt right in that truck as we went through those Colorado mountains. After I stopped crying, I kept reading. I learned about spiritual gifts that you need to be in a church to find your spiritual gift because that s what it s for serving others. The Lord plainly spoke in my spirit: Get off this truck. I don t want you here. I want you able to go to church. It started me thinking: When can I do this? Leaving Colorado, we headed into Northern California. There I got a very severe infection so painful I needed to call an ambulance. Doctors said it would keep happening if I didn t come off the road for good. When we get home, I told Rick, I m not going back out. We arrived home on a Christmas Eve. I wish I could say everything was suddenly rosy. But it wasn t. Because I couldn t drive, our income dropped. We couldn t pay our rent. Soon we had to move. We had nothing. But I knew the One Who told me to get off the truck was going to provide. At one point we stayed in a barn. Outside we had a little table. I bought a new Bible. Every morning I sat there reading it. I was in church every Sunday morning, night, and Wednesday nights, so close to the Lord, just trusting Him. I got a job and found a small apartment. My little church helped us get the utilities turned on. My walk with the Lord Love Notes I listened to one of Pastor Rogers programs about the root of bitterness, and the Lord touched my heart and changed my life. Argentina Adrian Rogers has had a huge impact on my faith. I love hearing his voice each day. Tennessee grew He even took away my desire to smoke. But Rick and I still struggled. When he came in off the road, he wanted to drink, not go to church. Unfortunately, sometimes I jumped ahead of God. I tried talking Rick out of drinking, nagging him about church, trying to take care of things myself. The more I tried to change him, the worse it got. God closed the door on all of it. I asked the Lord what to do. He said, Get out of My way. Let me do this for Rick. It was so hard just to step back, let Him do it, and love Rick when he was being so unlovable. I just loved him and prayed for him. At night when he fell asleep, I put my hand on his arm and prayed for God to change his heart. Before long he quit driving and became an instructor. His drinking began tapering off. One Sunday as I got dressed for church, he did, too. Now he goes with me. If you re praying for someone, don t stop. Keep praying until something happens in God s time and God s way. He changed Rick. And He also changed me. My walk with the Lord has grown. I love Him more now than I ever have. He has done so much for me, all because of that book by Adrian Rogers. Everyone should read it, even if you ve been a Christian 25 years. It will speak to you. Read it with an open heart. Ask God to lead you through it. It s an awesome book. By Cary Vaughn, CEO points to ponder Recently I had lunch with a good friend of mine who is the executive director of a faith-based nonprofit, conducting great work for the Kingdom. We discussed best practices, family, and many other facets of life. Our conversation quickly turned to the Word of God. Did you know that God fed the 5,000, as well as the 4,000? Did you realize that every miracle God performed was a divine example that He can overcome? In Mark 8:1-10, the people followed Jesus for three days without food. They journeyed, worshipped and learned but they were hungry. It is a wonderful reminder that we may have to sacrifice certain things to be followers of Christ. We may have to clear our calendar, or even go without, to follow Him. Life Well Spent By Bob Dawkins, CTFA, Planned Giving Officer DO I REALLY NEED A WILL? Some may say, I don t really need a will. Everything will work out OK. Maybe it will, maybe it won t. Think about the following with a properly prepared Will: 77An administrator of your choosing can be appointed to handle your affairs. 77Your desires for providing for your members of your family will be expressed. 77Your assets can be transferred out of your name and transferred into the name of your heirs. 77Your administrator can pay your bills and file your tax returns. 77Your administrator will be accountable to the Probate Court or Court of jurisdiction to carry out your wishes. 77You may wish to write your Christian Testimony into your Last Will and Testament. 77You have a peace knowing you have prepared a plan to take care of your family. The Grantor Living Trust is an alternative to the Last Will and Testament. We have information on our website, LWFLegacy.org, to assist you in your planning. You can also reach me at bdawkins@lwf.org or (901)257-4110. This information is not intended for tax, legal, or financial advice. Consult your personal advisor. In this passage Jesus also asked them, How many loaves do you have? In essence, what do we have to bring to a Holy God? Dr. Rogers often stated, God needs your availability, not your ability. When we bring all we have to Him, He brings all that He is to us. It was easy for the Lord to produce more food, but it is impossible for us to please God without faith. I truly believe He was monitoring the activity of the people to validate their commitment. Are we all in for Him? If so, get ready. Each day will be an anointed experience, and He will impact others and the community through us. NEVER BEFORE AIRED ON RADIO OR TV.
