April 8, 2008 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This year s SELC District Luther League Youth Gathering will be held July 17 20, 2008 in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains at the Pennsylvania State University Campus in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. St. John Hazleton will act as host society. The theme is Darkenss to Light from John 12:46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. Enclosed are the forms necessary to register your group. We are offering an extra night stay on campus for those traveling from a distance. We are also pleased to announce that the dorms and meeting rooms are air conditioned. Activities include: awesome bible studies, great music, servant events, fun and fellowship and a Saturday evening Arena football game. We hope you and your youth can share in this exciting, faith building event! LUTHER LEAGUE GATHERING COVENANT When participating in activities with the Luther League, I will: 1) Respect the established guidelines and the adults who sponsor events a) We will cooperate fully with all Adult Leaders. b) We will participate fully in all Gathering events. 2) We expect our Adult Leaders to: a) Follow the same rules we have to follow. 3) Respect my body as God's temple and will not use drugs or alcohol* at the Gathering. 4) Keep my displays of affection within appropriate limits. 5) Participate with the group and stay with the group as deemed necessary. 6) Show respect for other people, their thoughts, their ideas, and their stuff. 7) Maintain a positive attitude. Use positive and appropriate language. * We kindly ask all adults to refrain from alcohol during the weekend When someone refuses to follow this covenant, we will handle the problem with the following consequences: 1) Youth may be asked to consult privately with the Adult Leader or other youth involved in the problem. 2) Youth may be asked to spend part or all of the day under the direct supervision of an adult leader. 3) Substance abuse (alcohol and other drugs) or other major problems (theft, property damage, etc): ZERO TOLERANCE. Police may be called and the youth may be sent home at the parent's expense. God grant us all an enjoyable Gathering.
