Our Logo The two C stand for the Christ (outer circle) encompassing the community (inner circle). Christ Jesus is always present in his Church. The golden stylised sword represent the community rooted in the word of God ready to move as represented by the wings spread out to bring the Kergyma as represented by the cross to everyone. The colours are that of the Archangel The sword and wing represent the Archangel who is always there as our guardian.

Events in Brief 24 Hours Adoration We come to pray as a community for the growth of the community. During this time we intercede for the community that has begun on a new journey of faith. Participants are invited to spend 24 hours before the Lord or as much time as they can before the Lord. Bible Study - Genesis We will look to understand the book of Genesis A process where participants will deepen their understanding of their baptismal calling and learn to walk as a disciple of the Lord. These sessions will enable us to become more aware of living our lives according to. Confirmation Camps (Conf 1,2 & 3) These camps will help our teenagers from the age of 13 to realise the importance of their faith and the need to grow in the faith before they stand before the community to declare that they are ready for confirmation. Consecration to the Sacred Heart As we move towards enhancing family life, we look towards consecrating the family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We hope that these graced moments will bring the family closer to the Trinity. Catacomb Experience This will be a new experience for the parish. Open to all parishioners who want to spend deeper moments of reflection and prayer before celebrating Easter. From Maundy Thursday until Easter Saturday the participants will experience what the early Christian converts experienced when they would go into an inner room and not see light or have a bath until the Easter bath (baptism) and first light of the Easter Day. Christmas Octave The only other time where there is an octave in the liturgical calendar is Easter. We celebrate this moment of our salvation for eight days with and with food. All are welcome to continue the celebration of Christmas. Eucharist Explained All Catholics partake of the Eucharist but not all Catholics understand the signs and gesture of the Eucharist. Even the deeper meaning of the words eludes some of us. It is hoped that those who participate will have a deeper appreciation of the Lord s banquet and by this understanding enter into a fuller participation of the thanksgiving we give to God our Father through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. Eucharist with Youth These celebrations are primarily for the youths to understand the celebration as we focus on different parts of the celebration over the months. It is for the youths to realise what a wonderful gift Jesus left us as a memorial of our Father s great love for us. Easter Octave The celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is an extended celebration. This octave is in the liturgical calendar. We will celebrate for eight days this great and wonderful moment of our salvation. We invite all to come forward to merry Easter. Evening Brew It is a time to relax with a drink of your taste and talk about theology. This discussion is proposed in the document, Evangelii Gaudium by Pope Francis. There will be discussion and question and answer moments on any aspect of our faith and practices. Family Camp A time set aside for the family to have a vacation with some spiritual inputs and exercises. It will be a balanced programme enhancing family unity through fun and prayer. Father s & Mother s Day We look to honour fathers and mothers on this day for all that they have done for the family. Outreach with St Mikes - Food Distribution In all our activities we must not forget the poor and those in need. We will begin a process as early as the second week of Easter to identify the poor in our parish and those we can assist. This programme looks to complement the work of St. Vincent de Paul. After identifying their needs, we will amongst other things distribute food items to the needy and to the poor. Feast Day Triduum Three days spent in spiritual reflection before we celebrate the feast day of our patron, St. Michael. Fat Tuesday Traditionally this had been the day where the household would consume all the meat before Ash Wednesday when fasting began. We will celebrate Fat Tuesday by having a para-liturgy where we will burn the palms of last year s Palm Sunday. The celebration continues with a carnival. The ashes from the burnt palms will be used the following day Ash Wednesday. Family Day We hope to build stronger family bonds by having several of these activities in our parish. It will be a time for the family to have fun with themselves as well as with other families in the parish. Family Picnic Another event at another time to build better family ties and in case you missed out the other, there is this opportunity to know one s family and the other s family. Gadium et Spes This is a document of the Vatican II that directs our thoughts and action in the modern world. We look at how we can be Church in this time and age. These sessions will breakdown the document for the participants. Introduction to bible This would be a general introduction to the bible. It will help participants to have a better understanding of how to read the bible. Inter-ministry retreats This will be an opportunity for our various ministries to pray together as well as spent some time listening to the Lord speaking to us. As we pray together, we will work together and realise how much we are part of his kingdom builders. training This will be a course for those who should lead the community in the coming years. Participants will undergo a period of training and then given practicum in leadership roles throughout the year. These reflections are meant for those who want to commit themselves for 40 days to a bit more serious preparation for the Easter celebrations. The participants will have to gather together every evening where there will be a communal breaking of fast and an input given for the following day. Lumen Gentium The Vatican II document that speaks about the Church will be explained so that participants can better understand their role in the Church. Ministry Session This is a combined ministry information session where all ministry members will be required to attend in order to better understand their faith and what it means to be a disciple building the Kingdom of God. The sessions will run throughout the year. Memorial Meal This is a meal that will take place on Maundy Thursday before the Eucharist. Participants will partake of a meal that will help them become more appreciative of what has happened in their lives and how much they have been blessed by our Father.

Movie Appreciation Participants will be watching some popular movies and appreciate it from the Catholic perspective. We will discuss about how the movie echoes our faith or how it challenges our faith. The appreciation of the movies will enable us to view movies from a different dimension. Marriage Encounter Weekend The programme is focused on building a better communication between spouses and enhancing their married life. This weekend will be for couples from the parish. Meeting with all in Liturgy This will be the first meeting where the parish priest will delineate changes that will take place in the liturgy. These changes will bring some of our practices in line with the General Instruction to the Roman Missal as well as to highlight our community as a worshipping community. Meats & Bites @ St. Mikes It is a time of fellowship through a BBQ. It is hoped that through this social relaxing time, we will get time to know each other and bond as a parish. Night Cycling This is another social event that we hope will draw parishioners who are keen on cycling as well as those who would like to do something new. We should be cycling until sunrise. Oh what a night! A night under the clouds (stars are difficult to see in the city. This is another social event that should be more of a picnic at night in the heart of the city. A novelty event that we hope will attract your attention. Penitential Service This will take place after the Ash Wednesday celebration. Participants will make a decision to carry out penance for the entire period of Lent. Participants will determine their own penance. Prayer Workshop Participants will learn the meaning of prayer and the different forms of prayer. The participants will be exercising some of these forms during the workshop. Pentecost Rally It will be a time to open oneself more intentionally to the workings of the Holy Spirit. There will be nights of praise and worship followed with teachings. s / Recollection The parish retreat is open to all especially those who are looking to renew their faith or looking for a time of prayer. We live our lives so often stressed out that we should give some time to the Lord. The retreat will focus on us being more a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Stations of the cross for Children A simplified version of the stations will be prepared so that children below the age of 6 can participate in the Good Friday service in an age appropriate manner. The youths will be managing the stations. Stations of the cross for Youth The stations will be formulated in a manner that will be relevant to the lives of the youths who may want to enter deeper into the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. St. Mike s Challenge We invite our parishioners to pit their skills against one another in a friendly competition of old time games as well as perennial games. Games will be played in teams. So do form your teams. St. Mikes Games and Fun Day This is for the whole family and singles as we come together to have some fun through games. It will be another day for those had missed out on the other occasions of family time together. Workshop for Teens Days put aside for the teenagers to understand some aspects of the faith and help them to be more aware of the teachings of the Church.
