Erie Mae was also the beloved sister-in-law of Kate Shermer. Our Church and community were blessed by Erie Mae and we all share in your loss.

Ministries and Missions Prayers and Squares Quilt Ministry Quilts have been dedicated recently for Merle Reavis (Bill Huff), The Sparrow's House (Prayers & Squares), Charles Myers (Pat Harper), Susan Hill (Pat Harper), Diane Shore (Judy Hardy), John Weddle (Bridget Boyles), Will Easterly (Brenda Matthews). Please continue to remember all of these in your prayers. Erie Mae Russell was a charter member of the Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry. She was present at the first meeting on April 15, 2009, and continued attending faithfully as long as her health permitted. As time passed, quilt #299 was dedicated for her on October 10, 2012, and she kept it with her until she passed away on September 20, 2014. It was then placed on her casket as a symbol of the love and warmth she showed to everyone she knew. We are most grateful to the Russell family for designating Prayers & Squares as the recipient of memorial funds given in memory of Erie Mae. Her spirit of kindness lives on. Church Library According to the Church Librarians Network, the Millennial Generation (born between 1980-1995) that has grown up in the age of technology has a fondness for a very old-fashioned habit - reading. According to a new Pew Research Center report, those under 30 were more likely to have read a book in the last year than those over the age of 30. And they're more likely to use the library as well! New reads in our library include Karen Kingsbury's latest release, Angels Walking, the story of a washed up baseball player and the miracle that might save him. Also new is A Season To Remember, the journey of Carson Tinker, the starting long snapper of The University of Alabama's Crimson Tide, and his incredible story of perseverance and triumph following the April 27, 2011, EF4 tornado that tore through Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Check them out Sisters at Heart will meet Tuesday, October 7 in the FLC meeting room. Bring a friend! Also, Wednesday, 10/15, after bible study, our group will set up the tables up for our 125th Anniversary Homecoming meal on Sunday, 10/19. Purple Hats: will meet Tuesday, October 14, 6:30 pm in the FLC. Senior Saints Activities: October 14, Tuesday: Leave church at 8:15 to go to the Hungry Farmer in Cana, Virginia for breakfast and on for a visit with Janice Moxley at her mountain home. The leaves should be beautiful in the Mountains! December 7, Sunday: Senior Saints will go to the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theater in Wytheville, Virginia for Lunch and a Show. The Bus will leave the church at 11am immediately after Sunday School. Please get your name on the list if you are planning on going. The cost is $40 and will need to be paid in advance by November 9 th. Call Ruth Matthews at 699-8741 or Sherry Pendry at 699-4906 to sign up and pay or if you have questions. ***Wed.
