Dear Parishioners, As I sit here in my office composing this piece, I am watching cars pull up to drop off donations for our annual parish rummage sale. A wonderful group of volunteers adults and high school parishioners are helping to coordinate this event. Last week, another large group of volunteers of all ages helped to direct our Vacation Bible School. These events, and so many like them in our parish simply would not be possible were it not for the generosity and dedication of volunteers. We don't thank our volunteers often enough, so I take this opportunity to do so now. Thanks to the Marthas and Marys who prepare funeral luncheons, the ushers who greet folks and take up the collection every week at Mass, the countless coaches of our many athletic teams, the money counters on Monday morning, the ladies who create beautiful quilts, those who collect food and donations and distribute them to those in need through the St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry, men and women who serve on our Tithing Committee that serves the poor, those who provide/serve the meal at Sts. Peter & Paul, our sacristans, ministers who bring Holy Communion to our sick and shut-ins, lectors at our daily Masses, those who prepare the shipment of the donations to Haiti, the men and women who barbeque for parish dinners, members of the parish council, those who work our Fish Fries, School Board and Finance Committee members, those who provide shelter and a meal for the Room at the Inn, the men and women who clean up church every Sunday after all the Masses are over..and to the many others who are not named here. What builds up a Eucharistic community is this generous and willing spirit of its members. Please don't ever think that your service goes unappreciated. We appreciate you and the work you do for this parish family! God s Blessings to you and your family for a great week! T W G Today we encounter readings that draw us into the mystery of suffering and death. In the past few years we have witnessed the devastation of life and property through tsunamis and hurricanes. So many lifted their lament to God, simply asking, Why? This is an honest expression of frustration toward a God who we believe is the giver of life. When we lose a loved one, we can wonder why the presence of Christ is not enough to make that person rise, even from death, as did the little girl in today s Gospel passage. Again we raise our voices and ask, Why? At moments such as these, let us make the prayer of the psalmist our own: Hear, O Lord, and have pity on me; O Lord, be my helper. Let us pray that our mourning will one day be turned into dancing. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

S. P P H S W Y S? Do you know that your life is a story? In Pope Francis story of humility and encounter with the poor, we hear that a little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just. It s true! Each of us has a story and we are constantly sharing that story with the world. So let s ask ourselves, are we satisfied with our story? Are we telling the best story that we can? We have the opportunity to add to our story by feeding the men at the Sts. Peter & Paul Homeless Shelter. Dates available for the remainder of 2015 are: September 16th, September 24 th, October 21 st, November 18 th, December 16 th and December 26 th. Please call Mark Dischert at (314) 974-6566 or Gene Bestgen at (636) 527-5385 to reserve a date. S. P C C This Thursday, July 2, the hamburger casserole and the green bean casserole both go downtown. Please mark your calendar for next month. The hamburger casserole will go downtown on Saturday, August 1 and the green bean casserole will go downtown on Thursday, August 6. Have a happy Independence Day! Thank you for remembering these hungry people during this summertime. For a pan or recipe, call Mary Ann at (636) 394-3963 or Geri at (636) 391-7154. W B S M? Everybody benefits from Stephen Ministry. Those receiving care from Stephen Ministers benefit because they receive prayer and support throughout the crisis they face. Stephen Ministers benefit through the spiritual growth they experience from being involved in meaningful ministry. Our priests benefit because caring ministry at Holy Infant is expanded, and fewer people will slip through the cracks. Most of all you benefit from the knowledge that special care is available to you should you need it. In addition, you now have a place where you can refer a friend, neighbor, coworker, relative, or anyone else you know who is going through a difficult time so that they can receive special care when they need it most. Stephen Ministry makes Holy Infant Church a more caring place. You may call Gene at (636) 527-5385 or call Alberta at (636) 399-6567 to learn more about Stephen Ministry. M -A-M B Meal-A-Month Bags will be collected next weekend in the lower lobby before all the Masses. Suggested items are: Pasta Sauce, Boxed Pudding/Jello, Corn Bread Mix, Jelly, Stew, Boxed Potatoes, Cake Mix and Canned Fish (tuna, salmon). This food helps the St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry. H W Food Service Consultants is looking for part time kitchen help for next school year at St. Joseph s Academy. Call Dorothy Stupka at (636) 458-1408 to apply. Words cannot express the gra tude I have for the amazing people of this vibrant parish! The children had a fun me mee ng saints (in person!), chasing down Elijah, crea ng snow, snacking on mountains, receiving their Bible Buddies, pu ng on frozen T-shirts, and taking part in Holy Infant s Got Talent. There are too many people to thank but a few need to be said: to Jennifer O Brien for showing me the ropes, to Tim M. and his crew of girls for building me a mountain, to Rob M. and the maintenance staff for SO much, to the School Office and Rectory Staffs for their guidance, to Sr. Rosario and Fr. Stanger for their pa ence, and of course to all of the volunteers you are AMAZING! A M T! We had a beau ful week. The families raised $676 for the St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry. We also collected over 400 books and 150 stuffed animals for Ready to Learn. But most of all, I am grateful to Christ for the fun children who came along on this climb. YOU made it a great week! Peace & Joy, Carrie Wolf

PROOFS FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD FR. ROBERT SPITZER, S.J. Today, it is more important than ever to understand how the voice of science and our ordered universe clearly testify to the existence of an all-powerful God. In this informative talk, Fr. Robert Spitzer an expert in physics, philosophy, and theology explains how modern scientific findings and recent medical studies support what is clearly understood through Christian Faith. WALK THE WALK: FOLLOWING CHRIST AS HIS DISCIPLE DR. TIM GRAY Being a disciple of Jesus has always been synonymous with being a Christian. From the Scriptures and from his own experience, biblical scholar Dr. Timothy Gray explains how Christian discipleship calls us to follow in the footsteps of Christ as engaged participants in God's plan, ordering our lives to bear witness to the Lord in our families, workplaces, communities, and to the world.
