Retiring collection for the Cathedral Music Trust and Music Department. LECTIO DIVINA The next session will be held tomorrow from 8.15pm to 9pm in the Chapel of the Transfiguration. The group follows an ancient practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer, which promotes a close communion with God. For centuries the cathedral was the centre for this type of worship, used by the Benedictine monks daily, during its period as an important Abbey. We are a small group looking for expansion! Working in pairs this role will interest those with either safeguarding and/or training experience. PALM CROSSES Ash Wednesday is fast approaching. Following ancient tradition, please could those who are able give their crosses from Palm Sunday 2016 into the Virgers Vestry by Sunday 26th February, so that Abbey Squad can use them to make the Ash required for this year s Ash Wednesday eucharists. The Greek New Testament Reading Group meets this Monday, 8pm in the Library. 5 on the door and this month we re beginning our look at Paul s Letter to the Philippians with Philippians 1.1-26. We re very excited to have Bishop Richard Harries, the former Bishop of Oxford, visiting on Monday 13 February to discuss his book The Beauty and the Horror. The Director of the Humanist Society described this look at the wonder and suffering of the world as the best case that could be made for the presence of God.
