FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26 10:00 am High Mass & Eucharistic procession with Benediction Missa Te Deum, composed by Msgr. Lorenzo Perosi (1872-1956) Performed under the direction of Mr. Kevin Allen A plenary indulgence may be obtained under the usual conditions by all who assist at Holy Mass in a church of the Institute of Christ the King on this feast day. NEW PERSONNEL IN OUR AMERICAN OFFICES Due to the encouraging fact that we are blessed with a growing number of qualified oblates in our Institute, we have decided to employ more of our own personnel in our American Offices which also helps us to economize further on the cost of our small administration. As of October 1 st, Abbé Chad Templin will be an additional office assistant and work together with our long term Office Administrator, Mrs. Mary Hall, and office assistant Abbé Georg Emmel. We wholeheartedly thank Miss Cristina Borges for her untiring efforts as development director over the last two years. Miss Borges has contributed greatly to the management of our Offices and to the increase of the local and national awareness level for our activities in this country. Several fund raising events, the national newsletters, multiplied contacts to the media and to nationwide donors and other achievements pertaining to the development of the Institute of Christ the King in this country would not have been possible without the professional skill and dedication of Miss Borges. In addition, together with her mother Mrs. Celia Borges, she has volunteered on many occasions and helped the local community of the Institute to have a good beginning in its Chicago location. With the expression of our gratitude for what Miss Cristina Borges and her mother have done to foster the development of our Institute and of the Shrine of Christ the King, we will keep them in our prayers and wish them God s abundant graces for the future. For further fundraising purposes, the Institute of Christ the King has contracted the Novus Group whose President Mr. Patrick Thornton has already been introduced to a good number of our friends. Mr. Patrick Thornton and his collaborators will help us to continue the fund raising efforts for our Shrine, our International Seminary and other projects of the Institute in the USA. Please pray to the Infant King and St. Joseph for a good beginning of his endeavors for the Institute. INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST 03

LITURGICAL CALENDAR & READINGS INTROIT: PS. 129. 3-4 If Thou shalt observe iniquities, O Lord, Lord, who shall endure it? for with Thee is propitiation, O God of Israel. Ps. From the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice.. Glory be to the Father. COLLECT: O God, our refuge and strength, who art the author of all godliness; hear, we pray Thee, the devout prayers of Thy Church, and grant that what we ask confidently we may obtain effectually. Through our Lord. EPISTLE: PHILIPPLANS 1. 6-11 Brethren, we are confident in the Lord Jesus, that He who hath begun a good work in you, will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus. As it is meet for me to think this for you all, for that I have you in my heart; and that, in my bands and in the defence and confirmation of the Gospel, you are all partakers of my joy. For God is my witness, how I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your charity may more and more abound in knowledge and in all understanding; that you may approve the better things; that you may be sincere and without offense unto the day of Christ; filled with the fruit of justice, through Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. GRADUAL: PS. 132. 1-2 Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.. It is like the precious ointment on the head, than ran down upon the beard, the beard of Aaron. ALLELUIA: PS. 113. 11 Alleluia, alleluia.. They that fear the Lord, let them hope in Him; He is their helper and protector. Alleluia. GOSPEL: MATTHEW 22. 15-21 At that time, the Pharisees went and consulted among themselves, how to ensnare Jesus in His speech. And they send to Him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying: Master, we know that Thou art a true speaker, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest Thou for any man, for Thou dost not regard the person of the men. Tell us therefore, what dost Thou think? It is lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said: Why do you tempt Me, ye hypocrites? Show me the coin of the tribute. And they offered Him a penny. And Jesus saith to them: Whose image and superscription is this? They say to Him: Caesar s. Then He saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar s; and to God the things that are God s. HOLY INFANT KING NOVENA The Shrine of Christ the King was built in 1923 by renowned architect Henry Schlacks as St. Clara Church. Having barely escaped the wrecking ball, this magnificent historic landmark has been given to the care of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. With only provisional furnishings, the Shrine is already a haven for the transcendent beauty of the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite, dear to our beloved Pope Benedict XVI. The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you. Here, the Divine Infant King, real Symbol for Truth Lived in Charity, will be the center of liturgical worship and devotion. A seventeenth century statue of the Divine Infant King, donated by a generous benefactor, has been solemnly crowned and enthroned above the High altar of the Shrine by His Eminence Francis Cardinal George in December 2007. In honor of the Divine Infant King a Votive High Mass of the Nativity is celebrated at the Shrine at 7:00 pm on the 25th day of every month. In preparation for this monthly commemoration of the Infant King, a Novena prayer in His honor is recited after daily Mass from the 17th through the 25th of every month. VOTIVE MASS OF THE NATIVITY IN HONOR OF THE DIVINE INFANT KING Followed by Benediction of the most Blessed Sacrament SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25 AT 7:00 PM Choral music provided by The Chicago Chorale Missa Brevis, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1594) Offertory Motet: Ave Maris Stella, Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) Communion Motet: The Eyes of All Wait upon Thee: Jean Berger (1909-2002) Novena Prayer O Divine Infant Jesus, I have recourse to Thee. Please, through Thy Blessed Mother, assist me in this necessity (mention intention here), because I firmly believe that Thy Divinity can help me. I hope with confidence to obtain thy holy grace. I love Thee with all my heart and with all the strength of my soul. I repent sincerely of my sins to triumph over them. I resolve never more to offend Thee and I come to offer myself to Thee with the intention of enduring everything rather than to displease and, for the love of Thee, O Divine Infant, I will love my neighbor as myself. All powerful Infant, O Jesus, I implore Thee again, assist me in this need. Grant me the grace of possessing Thee with the angels in the heavenly court. Amen.
