The Signs Of Being Lukewarm Text: Revelatioin 3:15 & 16 - "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." (Matthew 7:21) T H E S I G N S : 1) Little or no desire to pray. Matt. 6:6 / I Thess. 5:17 / Mark 14:36 / Matt. 26: 40 & 41. 2) Little or no desire to read the Bible. II Tim. 2:15 / Ps. 119:30. 3) Church attendance drops. Heb. 10:25 / Nehemiah 10:39. Going to church is often not convenient, more of a duty and chore. Flimsy excuses not to attend and be faithful. 4) Giving, tithing and serving in the church for the Lord is a dread. Col. 3:17 & 23 / Luke 6:38 / Matt. 10:8 / Malachi 3:8-11. Excuses outweigh the commandments and principles of God's Word. No real joy in giving. It's duty more than cheerfulness. Finding reasons why one cannot be a giver and server.
5) Sin isn't repulsive anymore, but often appealing! Ps. 119:130 / I John 2:15-17. No conviction of sin like one use to have. In fact, one finds great pleasure, enjoyment and satisfaction in sinning. Doesn't want to hear convicting sermons. Gets offended when others point out why sin is wrong. Finds company among others who also delight in sinful activities. 6) Complains, murmurs and backbites. (gossips) Matt. 5:44 / Phil. 2:14 / Eph. 4:3 / James 4:11 / I Peter 2:1. This person may attend church regularly but is still backslidden in heart, because of their tongue and attitude toward others. Does not reverence the Word of God that reveals not to speak evil of others. This is not a person who desires to get counseling to help the situation, but spreads unkind words about someone to others. 7) Apathy toward lost souls. Acts 2:41 / Mark 16:15 / Mark 9:6. Doesn't want to witness anymore about Jesus, nor be a soulwinner. Lost souls are not important enough to be concerned about. Probably ashamed to let others know they are a "christian". (They t h i n k they are, but in reality, may very likely not be). 8) No desire to please God. Doesn't really care about grieving or pleasing God. This person's desires, pleasures, entertainment, recreation and friends are much more important than God in their life. No deep, lasting respect for God,
His Word, commandments and principles. Jer. 29:13 / John 8:29 / I Cor. 3:13. 9) Temporary fulfillment to one's flesh means more at the moment than the eternal rewards (in heaven) from God. I Cor. 15:58 / Heb. 11:6 / I Cor. 3:8 / Col. 3:24/ I Tim. 4:1. 10) Doubt, fear, unbelief, unforgiveness worry and idleness. These traits s o m e t i m e s reveal a backslidden heart. When one loves God and walks close to Him in prayer and Bible study, that one will have a strong desire to love, serve, give, forgive and obey all the Word, all the time. That one's faith will be geniune. I Tim. 1:7 / I John 4: 18-21 / Matt. 6: 14 & 15. HERE ARE OTHER VERSES THAT REVEAL HOW ONE CAN LOSE THEIR SALVATION, IF THEY CONTINUE TO SIN WILLFULLY WITHOUT GENUINE REPENTENCE : Ez. 18:22 / II Chron. 15:2 / II Peter 2:20 / Luke 9:62 / John 6:66 / II Tim. 4:10 / Matt. 7: 16-23. PUNISHMENT WILL BE ACCORDING TO THE OPPORTUNITIES AND KNOWLEDGE ONE HAS RECEIVED: - Luke 12:48 - "...For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required." Who won't enter heaven?
Galatians 5:19-21 / I Corinthians 6: 9 & 10 / Revelation 21:8 / Revelation 21: 27 / Revelation 22: 15; 19 / Proverbs 19:9 / I John 3:15 / Matthew 5:28. Will You Be That Soul That Repents And Turns Away From This World's Sinful Lifestyle? Will You Be That One Who Desire To Please God More Than Yourself? Will You Be That One Who Is A Genuine Christian That Lives It Even When No One (but God) Is Watching? Does Your Life, Actions, Words, and Desires Line Up With What The Word Says A Real Christian Is Suppose To Be? Someday Regret Any Poor Choices You May Be Making Now That Are Contrary To How A Christian Should Live. Don't Matthew 10: 39- "He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 12:35- "A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." Matthew 25:23- "His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord." I Corinthians 9:27 - "But I keep under my body, and bring it unto subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." Don't let any temporal pleasures and sins keep you out of heaven, or hinder your rewards that you could receive someday, when you stand before God's throne. May we all hear Him say to us on that day we slip into eternity, "Well done thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Is the Lord your joy, now? If not, He won't be your joy then, cause you won't even make it to
heaven. Jesus has to be your Lord for you to live a victorious life here and now on this earth. Don't put it off, give Him your heart, your ALL, unreservedly! FoR more info: www.jillwalker.org www.therevivalchurch.com revjill@yahoo.com
