The Ordo lists the papal prayer intentions each month. Parishes are encouraged to publish the papal prayer intentions in their Sunday bulletins. To better know the concrete problems that trouble the Universal Church, especially those of the missions, the Holy Father asks that his monthly intentions be the object of knowledgeable and responsible prayer on the part of the people of God (Ordo). May Intentions General Intention That in every country of the world, women may be honored and respected and that their essential contribution to society may be highly esteemed. Order of Confirmation (revised) Implementation on Pentecost 2016 (May 15, 2016) All parishes where the Sacrament of Confirmation takes place on Pentecost and following please include the following in your final classes to better prepare the confirmandi. Take note of the prayer (Imposition of Hands) that the Bishop will now say: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who brought these your servants to new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, freeing them from sin: send upon them, O Lord, the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete; give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and fortitude, the spirit of knowledge and piety; fill them with the spirit of the fear of the Lord. Through Christ our Lord. R. Amen A few things to take note of: 1) Paraclete (vs. Helper and Guide) 2) Counsel (vs. Right Judgment) 3) Fortitude (vs. Courage) 4) Piety (vs. Reverence) 5) Fear of the Lord (vs. Wonder and awe) Notice that the gifts of the Spirit now mirror the translation used in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Though older generations may recognize and understand these references, it is advisable to properly and in a positive light explain these terms to those being confirmed. USCCB Decree of Publication (5/24/2015) The Order of Confirmation may be used in the Liturgy upon publication, and its use is obligatory as of Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2016.
