You have assisted us with electricity to the new Fathers house which on our effort along, we could not afford. For this we thank you very much. Also, you supported us with the school feeding program at St. Joseph Primary School which has contributed much in the retention of learners at school, high attendance and high pass rate. This has benefited not only the Christians but also the Muslims. Last year we experienced a dry spell which made almost all households to have no food but this year we had enough good rains so that we have harvested much yields because you were with us in your daily prayers. We are not taking this for granted. Also, thank you for the strong relationship which is between these two parishes of St. Brendan and St. Joseph, Namalaka. We have learned a lot on what our sisters are doing in America through these delegates. To show that the relationships is not only for elders, Malia, one of the youths from St. Brendan, is with us to chat with her fellow youths of St. Joseph, Namalaka. May the almighty God bless St. Brendan and St. Joseph Namalaka Parishes, Master Kamwando, Chair Person of Parish Council. PAGE 3

Stewardship and Service What is stewardship? In the Bible a steward was sort of like the butler or housekeeper of a large house. He or she kept track of everything that was going on. (Genesis 15: 2). Eliakim was steward of the palace in Jerusalem. (Isaiah 22: 19-23). We may not be in charge of anyone s palace, but we are responsible for the riches and the talents God has given us. Exodus 1: 1 through 2: 10 Baby Moses The story of Baby Moses is a great favorite. We imagine little Moses in his waterproof basket boat floating down the Nile. When you look at the giant pyramids of Egypt, you know that they were built by slaves. How wonderful that the Princess discovered him. Matthew 17: 14-18. Jesus Heals the Demon-Possessed Child This is not just a scary story but something that really happened. Sometimes Satan tries to take people away from God by taking over their bodies and lives. This is what happened to a boy in the time when Jesus was walking among us. Jesus ordered the demon to come out of the boy. He told his disciples that with faith, Nothing will be impossible for you. Announcements Registrations are flowing in for Disciples Club and Sacramental Preparation. Don t be the last one! Scholarship donations are very welcome for Disciples Club ($50 per year) and Sacramental Preparation ($75 per year). Si quieren donar o recibir, llama a Andrea. Alphabet Soup for Students I ISAIAH has been called the greatest of the prophets. He received the word of God at a time when the Northern Kingdom of Israel was taken over by Assyria, and the southern kingdom of Judah was also threatened. ISAAC was called the Son of the Promise because Abraham believed that God would make him the father of many nations. PAGE 4

For the last ten years St. Brendan parishioners have been praying at Planned Parenthood Clinics. They started at the Kenmore clinic and were instrumental in its closing. Those same prayers have moved on to the Everett Clinic and are now in their third year. Their efforts seem to have had some effect as it caused the clinic to hire its own demonstrators who brandish signs praising its services. Additional prayers are needed, especially on Wednesdays. Carpooling is available. For more information, call Ron Fernandes at 425-821-3599. ST. BULLETIN DEADLINE 12 Noon Monday (Friday 4:30 pm when Monday is a Holiday) ONLINE PARISHIONER REGISTRATION & ONLINE GIVING Every person s finances and family situation is different. Jesus makes it clear that it matters not how much one gives, but that it is planned, calculated, at least somewhat sacrificial (see Luke 24:1-4), and not simply from what is leftover at the end of the month. We propose the tithe (10%) as the ideal every family can consider working towards. This means taking steps to give 5% to one s parish, and 5% to other charities or causes you have personal passion for. You can register online at www.saintbrendan.org and click on the link Online Registration/New Parishioner on lower left corner of website and to give online, click on the Online Giving link. It s quick, secure, convenient, and easy. Your support helps sustain our parish. If you need help with online giving, please call the Parish Office at 425-483-9400. PAGE 7
