Introduction by Narrator One: This is Room 1 s story of the first Christmas as a way to honor and remember the birth of Jesus. God sent his own Son to be our Savior, who taught us to love and care for others. On Christmas, we celebrate God fulfilling his promise to send a messiah and also await Christ s return. Narrator Two:! In those days, an order went out from the ruler, Caesar Augustus, that every man shall return to his place of birth. The king wants to know how many people are in his kingdom, Joseph told Mary. We must go to my hometown of Bethlehem and be counted. Narrator Three: Mary, who was with child, sighed, Bethlehem is far away, Joseph. And the baby is due any day now.! Please don t worry, Joseph told Mary. God will watch over us. Narrator Four:! The trip to Bethlehem was long and dusty. When Joseph and Mary arrived, Bethlehem was crowded. Joseph tried to find a room where they could stay, but all of the inns were full.! Is there any room at your inn? asked Joseph.
Narrator Five:! I m sorry. I have no room, every room is full, said each innkeeper. Finally, Mary and Joseph found a stable that they shared with the animals. Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem Oh little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie; Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, The silent stars go by. Narrator Six:! That night, Mary gave birth to her firstborn son. The Lord Jesus Christ was born, just as God s angel had said. To keep Jesus warm, Mary wrapped him in swaddling clothes. She laid him down gently in his first bed; a manger under the stars in Bethlehem. Away in a Manger Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head; The stars in the sky looked down where He lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. Narrator Seven:! Later that night, the angel Gabriel suddenly appeared in the sky above shepherds watching their flocks on the hills near Bethlehem. The shepherds were afraid. They were struck with great fear for they had never seen an angel before.
Narrator Eight:! The angel of the Lord said to the shepherds, Do not be afraid; for I have come with good news of great joy. Today, in the city of Bethlehem, a Savior has been born to you. Christ the Lord has come!! This will be a sign for you. You will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Narrator Nine: Suddenly, a great company of heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest! And peace to his people on earth. Hark, the Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn king! Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. Narrator Ten:! When the angels were gone, the shepherds said, Let us go to Bethlehem!! They hurried into town and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger, just as the angel had said. The shepherds were the first to see and worship baby Jesus. Then the shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God all the way saying, Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Joy to the World Joy to the world, the Lord has come; Let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and heaven and nature sing.
Narrator Eleven:! Three wise men from the east saw a bright start rising in the sky. Knowing this was a sign that the Savior has come, they followed it in search of the newborn child to worship him.
