We Wish You Merry Christmas and Happy 2018! Pope John XXIII s Christmas Prayer O sweet Child of Bethlehem, grant that we may share with all our hearts in this profound mystery of Christmas. Put into the hearts of men and women this peace for which they sometimes seek so desperately and which you alone can give to them. Help them to know one another better, and to live as brothers and sisters, children of the same Father. Reveal to them also your beauty, holiness and purity. Awaken in their hearts love and gratitude for your infinite goodness. Join them all together in your love. And give us your heavenly peace. Amen. Prayer for Christmas Dinner Eternal God, this joyful day is radiant with the brilliance of your one true light. May that light illuminate our hearts and shine in our words and deeds. May the hope, the peace, the joy, and the love represented by the birth in Bethlehem fill our lives and become part of all that we say and do. May we share the divine life of your son Jesus Christ, even as he humbled himself to share our humanity. Bless us and the Dinner that You have provided for us, let us be thankful for the true gift of Christmas, your Son. Amen. New Year's Prayer God, thank you for a new year. May everyone in our family be willing to begin anew with a clean heart. We know that you are always ready to forgive us. Help us to be willing to forgive ourselves and to forgive one another. As we begin a new year, remind us of our true values and our deepest desires. Help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what you want us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and the past, so that we might live in peace with you now, one day at a time. Amen. Flowers adorning the Blessed Virgin Mary have been donated by Jim Collins for Mary s intercession for the cure of Breast Cancer. In the first reading, God promises King David that his house and his kingdom will endure forever. It is through Mary s Yes I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say. that the promise finds fulfillment. The shepherds who heard the joyous news from the angels on that first Christmas night and then hurried to find the infant Savior must surely have been changed by that experience. How has His coming changed my life? Whatever you do, says St. Paul to the Colossians, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father through Him. And so it is that we offer our gifts in the Eucharist through Him, with Him, and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
