I 13-1a I WILLIAM McCOLL UM SENIOR - SHERIFF SALE Chariton County, Missouri, Deed Book F, pages 319-320, 6 January 1841 Location - SWlf.i of SW lf.i, Section 30, Township 55, Range 17W Grantee-Joshua Belden In the early 1840' s William McCollum found himself in financial difficulty which resulted in some of his land being sold at sheriff sales to satisfy his debts. His debt was recorded as $173.40 plus $55.81 in damages. The total recovered from the sale of the two pieces of land was only $20.00, which did not do much toward retiring the debt. This deed made and executed this the 6th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty, by and between Levi Blankenship Sheriff of the County of Chariton, in the State of Missouri, on the one part, and Joshua Belden of the County of Howard in the same State of the other part. WITNESS: to that where as William Glasgow and Company (consisting of William Glasgow and William Glasgow Sr. and Gabriel Compton) on the fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty in the Circuit Court of Charlton County, in the said State, received a judgment against William McCollum Senior, and sued out of the Clerks office of said County, on the fourteenth day of May in the said year. A writ of fiere facius against the goods, and Real Estate of said William McCollwn Senior for the swn of One Hundred and seventy five dollars and forty cents for their debt, and the sum of fifty five dollars and eighty one cents for their damages, over all their costs that in this behalf they have laid out and expended which writ was made returnable to the next term of the Circuit Court of Chariton County, to be held on the first Monday of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and forty. Also the said writ of execution came to the hands of the said Levi D. Blankenship on the fourteenth day of May One thousand eight hundred and forty, and he the said Levi D. Blankenship then was and half continued since, and now is the Sheriff of said County of Chariton. Upon the same day of recovery. The said Writ of execution, the said Sheriff levied the suit upon the following described land, and as the property of the said William, McColl um Senior. Lying and being in the said County of Chariton to Wit: Twenty nine, sixty six hundredth acres as the South West one quarter of the South West quarter, Section 30, Township 55, Range seventeen, and the Sheriff did advertise the sale of the said tract of land, to take place on the second day of the Circuit Court at the following term commencing on the first Monday of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty, before the Court house door in Keytesville. When the Circuit would be in session, he did make out and sign six hand bills and put them up in Public places in different parts of the County, and he did put up the same aforesaid more than twenty days before the day of sale aforesaid, and did there in describe there in the aforesaid time and place of sale described Real Estate. I the said Levi Blankenship as Sheriff aforesaid did on the eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty at Keytesville, in Chariton County aforesaid, before the Courthouse door, while the Circuit Court was in Session, and between the hours of nine o'clock in forenoon, and five o' clock in the afternoon the same day, publicly by auction for ready money to the highest bidder, did expose the said above described property of Real Estate to sale, and all the rights, title and interest of William McCollum Senior in the same, and the same Joshua Belden became a purchaser thereof being the highest bidder for the sum of ten dollars, and the same being on this day of sale by the said Belden, hereby grant, bargain, and sell and convey to the said Joshua Belden, his heirs and assigns, forever all the right, title, claim and interest of him
