INTRODUCTION This is the first time I am interacting with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. (CPA) Thank you for inviting me to share with you on the Religious Institutions in Uganda.
Definition of Terms Religious : connected with religion or with a particular religion. Institution: A large important organization that has a particular purpose. Religious institutions: are but not limited to churches, mosques, synagogues, temples, nondenominational ministries, international and ecumenical organizations, faith based social agencies and other entities whose principal purpose is the study, practice, or advancement of religion. Definition of Terms Cont d Agent: a person or group whose job is to act for, or manage the affairs of, other people in business. Social: connected with society and the way it is organized Change: to make sb/sth become different Social Change: refers to involvement in activities that improve positively the lives of individuals and communities locally and around the world. Social Change: is a process of shifting attitudes, values and actions to address social problems in a positive way.
Definition of Terms Cont d Transformation: a complete change in somebody or something. The way we work has undergone a complete change in the last decade. A marked change in form, nature or appearance.
Qualification of a Religious Institution. To qualify as a religious institution you must have an organized collection of belief systems or cultural systems. It must be organized and operated exclusively for religious and charitable purposes. Any earnings above the cost of operating go directly back to better the religious institution.
The Functions of a Religious Institution? Religion removes the fear and anxiety; creates relationship between man and the universe; man and God; judgment of right and wrong; preservation of values; create purity and cleanliness, religion creates social solidarity.
