Isaiah 14:3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve... Guilt/Shame: Isaiah 53:6 Isaiah 54:4...and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed; neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame; for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth... Isaiah 61:7 Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs. Grief/Mourning: Isaiah 61:2-3...to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (NIV) Psalm 30:11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness (joy-niv) Isaiah 51:11...and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Jeremiah 31:13...for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow Isaiah 66:13 As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. Heaviness/Depression/Despair (Joy, Praise): Isaiah 61:3...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair (NIV). (heaviness-kj) Psalm 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice; let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them; let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Psalm 89:16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day; and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. Psalm 149:5 Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud upon their beds. Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. Rejection (Favor): First Samuel 2:26 And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men. I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes, says the Lord. (NIV) Jeremiah 31:3-4 The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful. (NIV) Isaiah 62:4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate...for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (NIV)
