Central Alabama Emmaus Community the 4th day newsletter September 11, 2017 A MESSAGE FROM WALK #187 LAY DIRECTOR My original Walk #58 was a life changing experience. I was a Christian and thought I had been walking the walk but what I experienced on that weekend was a wakeup call as to how I needed to be prioritizing my life. After this walk, I began to be more intentional in my actions and my walk and talk. The love that was shown on that week-end was the agape love I had never experienced before. I learned so much in just three (3) short days. I felt as though I were walking with Jesus himself and I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. My spiritual journey taught me to die to my old self and begin a new life. I learned that it was ok to be transparent and that my experiences in life were who I was and that my experiences might be used to help others through challenges they faced. Women s Walk #187 Sandra Many Millbrook Cluster Times To Remember Wednesday 7pm Send-Off Friday 7pm Candlelight Saturday 7am Serenade Saturday 4pm Closing For those who have served on Walk 187 in the Conference Room or background, my deepest appreciation for the service you have given in the name of Jesus Christ. For the pilgrims of Walk 187, my hope is that when you start your 4 th days, that you are strong and feel the presence of the Holy Spirit walking with you. And for you to feel as the disciples did when they said Didn t our hearts feel strangely warm as He talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us? A MESSAGE FROM WALK #187 SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR 2017 Walk Dates It is such an honor to be asked by Sandra Many and the Holy Spirit to be a part of the Spiritual Director s team for CAEW #187. My original walk was Blue Lake Women s Walk To Emmaus # 12, that took place in 1987. As I prepared to sit down and write to you, I realized that my original walk was 30 years ago, and Emmaus was a life changing experience of Love and Community for me then, and continues to be life changing for me through all my 4 th days, 30 years later. As we gathered that first night, and we watched the movie and then in silence prepared for bed, if I could have found my sponsor, I would have gone home. Arriving right on time, in silence I met my roommate, for the very first time, someone I didn t know. Someone had made my bed, someone I didn t know; and since we had taken off our watch I didn t even know the time. I spent that night in silence and darkness. But that next morning, the Holy Spirit showed up and lifted that darkness! Over the next three days as we shared together our Walk To Emmaus, we all began to recognize Jesus as He walked with us, shared with us, and surrounded us with His Love and Grace. At first everything we did was just pieces unconnected, but then the pieces began to come together, as the pieces of a puzzle, and the picture of the whole began to come into view. I know that as we gather together for our team meetings for CAEW #187, the Holy Spirit will bring together the many pieces of our team, and a whole team will become one, as we join together with the pilgrims, on the best walk ever.
