P"8 %M I&# < ))$%&, P"8 ) %M #* P %!6 & T* L%P ) P"8 (people read bold) Let us pray for all the earth, the church, and all those in need, saying, God of grace, hear our prayer. Let us pray for the world: for leaders of nations, that wisdom and integrity will prevail for the good of all people, especially the poor; for regions torn by conflict, that peace may reign and living become an enterprise of construction rather than destruction; God of grace, hear our prayer. Let us pray for all people of faith: for the unity of the body of Christ, that divisions might not turn people away from the church; for Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Jews, that wherever prayers are raised up, the one God of all will hear; for all people who nurture life in the name of a greater good; God of grace, hear our prayer. Let us pray for our own nation: for the president and Congress, the Supreme Court and all judges, for state governments, city councils, school boards, and all who have power to make policy, that all consideration be given to what is most healthy for people and all life. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for those in need: for all who are hungry in our nation and world, for those who have no home and no employment, for those who are either unjustly or justly imprisoned, for parents and children who live in fear for any reason, and for all who are in mourning; God of grace, hear our prayer. For all other concerns of this assembly now spoken aloud or silently... [A time of silence is kept during which you may say aloud your individual prayers and petitions.] God of grace, hear our prayer. Receive our prayers and grant whatever you see that your people need; through Jesus Christ, who prayed, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. L: The Lord be with you. P: And also with you. L: Lift up your hearts. P: We lift them to the Lord. L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. P: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

L: It is a good and joyful thing to offer thanks to you, O God, the source of all creation. Your holy energy flows in animals and plants, makes them move, and gives them desire to live. You brought forth the world in love, and in your great love creation finds at last its proper end. And so with the hosts of heaven we join the everlasting hymn of praise: P: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. L: You fill our world with glory and light, and yet our mortal eyes cannot behold so bright a truth. Therefore in time you sent us Jesus Christ, your truth made flesh. He lived among us, teaching, healing, and revealing the boundless riches of your grace, that everyone might see and know the power of your love for us. Remembering the life and work of Christ, his ministry among the poor and lost, his death upon the cross of human shame, and the victory revealed by the empty tomb, we offer you our lives in thanks and praise, in unity with Christ our friend and Lord. Send your Holy Spirit on us here and on the gifts of bread and wine we share. Make us, gathered here in love for you, members of the body of our Lord, that we may share the promise of the gospel, one with Christ, and one in ministry to all the world. Through Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, Wonderful God, now and forever. Amen.

Join us after worship at the coffee pot in the narthex for interesting conversation and light refreshments. A good way to meet the pastor and make new friends at DPC! Children and Worship Note to Parents of Small Children: The presence of children in worship is a gift to our church. We welcome them, wiggles and all. Families are encouraged to sit together in worship, at least through the children's message. After that, parents may take younger children (5 and under) to our nursery, staffed by loving caregivers. A greeter can direct you to the nursery. For effective faith development, we value older children (over 5) experiencing the entire worship service. To help, children's bulletins and activities to keep little hands occupied can be found on the table in the narthex. If you have questions or ideas for children's ministry, please contact Suzie Lane at suzielane@dpchurch.com. Electronic Giving! Want an easy way to donate to DPC? Just text "dpchurch offering" to 73256. You'll get a link to a secure site that will scan your credit card info. You can even choose what special DPC fund you want to give to. It only takes about a minute! Thanks for supporting the ministries of Downtown Presbyterian Church!

Our Mission Gathering in the heart of Nashville, we are a community of disciples of Jesus Christ. We seek the welfare of the city as we seek the kingdom of God. We are an historic church working to be a welcoming and inclusive congregation. Together we actively share God's grace and love through worship, education and service, and through being an active voice in promoting justice and peace in our community and the world. Our Values and Ethos We believe that every person is a beloved child of God. Our welcome extends to everyone, whatever your economic circumstances, your faith background, your racial or ethnic identity, your sexual orientation or gender identity, or your political affiliations. As a diverse community we seek to intentionally embody God's radically inclusive and transformative love for everyone. With love and grace, we are called as a community to grow together as a voice for justice and peace - each as we are, with our unique human stories of joy and struggle. SESSION 2017 Rev.
