What s in the Bible? is a Biblical literacy curriculum that seeks to help children know the stories of the Bible, and how those stories were formed. Review and repetition are central to helping children understand the Bible. MUSIC IDEAS A few ideas for incorporating music into the What s in the Bible? lessons: Use the songs and music videos to sing along to in between Video 2 / Small Group 2 and Video 3 / Small Group 3. Or, add your favorite song after each small group activity! You might also use the What s in the Bible? songs as children are walking in or out of the classroom, or as quiet music during small group activities. MAKE IT YOUR OWN! What s In the Bible? gives you the freedom to customize your own curriculum. That means you have the ability to change, edit, remove or add anything you want to make this lesson a perfect fit for your children s ministry. VIDEO 2 / SMALL GROUP 2 Supplies: Bentley Brothers - Genesis Video, Story Cards, 1 Large Flip Chart and Several Markers PLAY: Video 2 SAY: Wow, I thought Buck Denver had tornado hair, but the Bentley Brothers have some serious sideburns! We heard in the Bentley Brothers song that Genesis means beginning and it is at the very beginning of the Bible. Many of our favorite Bible stories come from the book of Genesis. PLACE the flip chart paper, markers, and story cards in the middle of the group. SAY: We are going to see how many details we can remember about the stories in Genesis. Everyone can draw a story card. Pick 1 story card, read your card and then draw a picture of the story on a part of the flip chart paper. When everyone is finished drawing, you can share the details from the story you have drawn. HAVE the kids draw their pictures. If they get stuck, they can look up the story in the Bible by using the Bible reference on the story card. VIDEO 3 / SMALL GROUP 3 Supplies: Genesis - Primeval History Video, Jazinga Puppets, Scissors and Tape (If Using the Jazinga Puppets), OR Washable Markers, Garbage Can (Office Size), Game Chips (Bingo Chips or a Roll of Pennies) Teacher Note: This game is intended to reinforce content covered in the video. PLAY: Video 3 GAME DIRECTIONS: Using the washable markers, encourage kids to draw their favorite What s in the Bible? character on the first two fingers of their dominant hand. Or print out the finger puppets and have the kids cut one out and tape it to their fingers. Give each child 2 game chips to start. Ask the following questions (either in teams or as individuals). For each correct answer, give the child or team 1 game chip. Give a bonus chip if a child answers in the voice of the What s in the Bible? character on his/her finger! After all of the questions have been answered, set up the Jazinga can (garbage can). Have each child stand behind a designated line. Lay the game chip on the first two fingers (finger puppet) of their dominant hand and toss the game chip into the Jazinga can. Each time they make a shot, yell out JAZINGA! The team or child with the most Jazingas wins! SAY: We are going to play Jazinga! First, I am going to divide you into two teams. As each team answers the following questions, you will be given a game chip for each correct answer. Take a moment and draw your favorite What s in the Bible? character on your first two fingers.
