The base of the triangle has already been discussed as the Great Void that was the Universe before God brought light and represents the South. The East and West legs of the triangle represent the two parallel lines that border that point within a circle and represent Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist in every well regulated Lodge of Masons. It is important to understand from Euclidian Geometry that two parallel lines meet at infinity here represented by the North Star of Royal Arch Masonry, the lessons inculcated in the Order of the High Priesthood, where Excellent High Priests are Anointed, Consecrated and Set Apart to this Exalted Order within the Holy of Holies. The circle of light within the infinite triangle of deity represents man s potential and touches the deity in three places; in the South as Omnipresence, in the West as Omnipotent, and in the East as Omniscience. Next time the Circle of Light! I want to thank all of the Royal Arch Masons who attended gatherings with us in September at San Luis Obispo on the 3 rd for their First Mark Master Degree in 19 years (Well Done! I might add), Van Nuys for their RAM Festival on the 12 th, the CA Masonic Symposium in Pasadena on the 20 th, and the Council Degrees in Van Nuys on the 28 th! It s Great to be in York Rite in California! Don t ever forget that We, as Royal Arch Masons, provide and preserve the original Light beyond Blue Lodge!! October will indeed be a memorable month for the Royal Arch Masons of California! We are again standing up the Grand High Priest Chapter Under a Dispensation from the Grand High Priest (aka Me!) in order to confer the Companion Russell E. Charvonia Mark Master Mason Degree at Grand Lodge in San Francisco on Friday evening, 9 October. You will find a form attached to this News Letter for each Chapter to recommend Masons in good standing and elected to membership in their Chapter to take this historic degree on the stage at Grand Lodge! If you know Better Masons that want to be Great Masons, let them know that we will be open to walk-ins for this degree at the York Rite Booth at Grand Lodge. I hope to see many of you there as we enlighten our Blue Lodge Brethren to the joys and lessons of the York Rite! Don t forget to attend the reception in Sacramento on Sunday, 11 October as a fitting capstone to what shapes up to be an outstanding weekend! Please send emails to our Grand Marshal of the North, Excellent Companion Jerry Miller, who is suffering from a painful bout of pancreatitis! He is at home resting as comfortably as possible! His email address is: jm42@sonic.net and he will appreciate our support! Go Jerry! OBTW, the challenge coins are nearly gone and with all of the contributions going directly to the Scholarship fund (i.e. the DeBarrows-Wohlfarth Scholarship fund) to fund this year's scholarship recipients we shouldn t have to touch the corpus this year! Remember, like all true challenge coins; don't get caught in a CA Royal Arch Masonic venue without one or the first round is on you! It's a worthy cause and it directly helps our Masonic family in CA! Until next time - Go Big Red! STEVEN R. GOAD 161 st Grand High Priest I will repeat my exhortation of last month: Now is MARK MASTER AT GRAND LODGE the time for each High Priest, and his dais officers, to help make this event an historic Planning for the Mark Master Degree conferral success. You can each do this by visiting Blue on Friday night, October 9th, at Grand Lodge is Lodges in September and early October, proceeding apace. The cast has been collecting petitions for this class, and arranging completed the cast. There will be a social event to ballot upon the petitioners in your local afterwards, with location and times to be posted Chapter before the Annual Communication on and announced at Grand Lodge. October 9th. Your Secretary will then simply apprise us of the names of your petitioners, and Page 2 of 13

we will take it from there. You do not need a dispensation to hold a Special Convocation to ballot on petitions, but you should provide timely, written notice to your membership. See Section 105 of the Constitution, for clarification. So plan ahead and, if need be, begin now to make arrangements to have a Special Convocation for balloting upon petitioners to the Grand Lodge Class. Information and forms have been sent to Chapter High Priests to facilitate communications with the host Chapter. You can find the documents and petitions at the link provided in the leaflet at the end of this newsletter. Again, your focus on conferring the Mark Master Degree this year will have a tremendous effect, in the aggregate not only to build our membership base and improve our revenue stream, but also to satisfy our obligatory requirement to provide Masonic light and knowledge to our less informed brethren. The next month is crucial I urge you to set an example for your companions by getting the word out to our Blue Lodges. Send this Newsletter to your membership and, by doing so, encourage them to do the same! Thanks for your contributions. GRAND CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIPS For info about Scholarships, go to the following website: http://www.yorkriteofcalifornia.org/royalarch/ rara.html Program at 11428 E. Artesia Blvd, #13, Artesia, CA 90701-3872 Remember that all donations to the Scholarship Program are Tax Deductible, so keep this in mind as you plan your annual giving and when you pay your dues. OPERATIONS & TRAINING MANUAL For decades, we have all clamored for a single document that gives us what we need to effectively run our organizations. General Grand Chapter has now produced the Manual which meets this need for Chapters and each Chapter should acquire at least one copy for use by its Dais Officers. Councils and Commanderies can benefit from this production as well. Although it is oriented to the Chapter needs, and contains some info specific to the capitular ritual, it does contain the following chapters, which will be found to be useful by all bodies: A. The Art and Science of Leadership B. Officer Selection & Development C. Protocols and Governance D. Membership Management E. Presentation and Education F. Dues, Fees and Budgets G. Communications and Public Relations H. Strategic Planning and Development This new Manual is well worth the cost of $25.00. It can be ordered from the General Grand Chapter as follows: By writing to General Grand Chapter RAM, PO Box 128, Greenfield, IN 46140; or via email at: ramintl@sbcglobal.net If you have the resources, please consider making a significant donation on behalf of our Masonic Youth. Send any excess cash (!) to the Grand Chapter Scholarship Page 3 of 13

Attention Royal Arch Masons in California! HELP YOUR BROTHER MAKE HIS MARK!!! To introduce Master Masons to the Degrees of the Chapter, our Grand Chapter has authorized the conferral of the Mark Master Degree to interested Brethren without fee. A petition to the Chapter of Royal Arch Masons is still required, to take advantage of this opportunity. Keystone Classes are being planned for this program now, for group conferrals of the Mark Master Degree throughout the state in the Fall of 2015. This is where YOU come in. Please talk with that Brother you would like to recommend to your Chapter, and tell him of this opportunity to sample the further degrees of the York Rite. To help you explain this opportunity to your Lodge Brethren, the following new materials are available to you: A new Petition for this introductory Mark Master Degree. A brochure inviting a Brother to explore the Chapter Degrees. You can print these new materials from the Grand Chapter website, at http://www.yorkriteofcalifornia.org/royalarch/royalarch.htm Or you can ask any Chapter Secretary, District Inspector, or Grand Chapter Officer for copies of these new materials. Be sure to explain the advantages of this opportunity to your Lodge Brothers: The Mark Master Degree expands and extends the Craft Degrees, shedding further Light on what it means to be a Mason. Further Degrees in the Chapter are entirely optional. This is an opportunity to share Masonic fellowship with members of other Lodges in the local community. No proof of proficiency is required to advance in Degrees. -- Companions, please talk with your Blue Lodge Brethren today!! -- Page 11 of 13
