Committed to glorifying God by discipling students in a loving community that pursues excellence as we partner with parents in Christian education. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 If you are exhausted after shopping this past weekend on Black Friday or going on line for Cyber-Monday, you might be asking, Where is the Christ in Christmas? There are long lines at checkout counters, and long lines at traffic signals. There s frenzied rushing and running, buying and wrapping, baking and card writing. We often spend more than we should on decorations and gifts. It is easy to get so busy with the activities of Christmas, that we forget the most basic truth of Christmas, that Jesus Christ was born. Jesus is given many descriptive names in the ACA Today: December 6, 2013 From the Desk of the Headmaster, Mr. Jim Rozendal Bible to help us understand who he is. The passage from Isaiah above, written hundreds of years before Christ s birth gives a number of those phrases that describe him. Another important name given to him in both Isaiah and Matthew is the name, Immanuel. It reminds us that Jesus took on our humanity, but never lost his divinity. He is God with us. He was born in a manger, but he didn t stay there. He grew up as a child, then as a man, taking on every aspect of human likeness. He lived, suffered, died, and rose again, so that he might say to each of us, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). We hear His call, we follow, and we find His promises to be true. The awesome baby in the manger becomes the awesome Savior of the soul. God is with us, through the highs and lows of life the good days and the bad days, the victories and the defeats, the successes and the failures, the sicknesses and good health. Christ is calling, and he waits with open arms for us to respond. How have you responded? Are you ready to rest in Him, accept him as Savior and Lord, and walk in all that God has planned for you? This coming Thursday at 7:00 PM, Atlantic Christian Academy s Elementary and Secondary students will be joining together to share the Christmas story in song, Unto Us A Son is Given. The evening will take place in the gym. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite family and friends to attend and enjoy all of the music and scriptures that so beautifully tell the story of the birth of our Savior. Mr. and Mrs. Rios are working diligently with the students preparing them for this special presentation about the real meaning of Christmas. At ACA, our teachers at the pre-school level all the way through to the high school are consciously teaching their students who Jesus is and what it means to follow him. It is consciously planned into the curriculum they teach. It becomes part of the unplanned discussions that come up almost every day in their classrooms. It s taught in the chapels and programs that the students participate in. The students hear Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God is with us each and every day! May that message be real to your family this Christmas. May you find the personal peace that only He can give during this special season. A Day in the Life... On Tuesday, November 26th, the 5th and 7th grades enjoyed a trip to the Morikami Japanese Museum & Gardens in Delray Beach. After studying about the culture and geography of Japan in Mrs. Gonzalez s world history classes, they were able to experience a typical Japanese home, school, garden, and meal! Especially exciting was learning about the Japanese Art of tree shaping-bonsai. operation: christmas child A few 7th grade girls go above and beyond by helping to wrap boxes, preparing them for the final collection. Dec 4 Wisdom Kids: Nathalie Palacios-Garcia 5th and Mia Bruce 2nd From Mrs. Beatty: Nathalie is always looking for opportunities to help others out. The most recent time was at their class Thanksgiving Feast. Nathalie noticed that some students forgot to pick- up after themselves so she offered to clean up the area. Nathalie is quick to see a need and then to offer to lend a helping hand. I am so thankful for Nathalie and her servant s heart. Our last day of shoebox collections started early when our teachers packed & prayed over shoeboxes during their Monday morning devotions. From Mrs. Harrelson: Mia is a very sweet girl and consistently asks (and is willing to help) her teachers. Mia is very diligent and smart and is also very kind to her classmates. If a classmate gets hurt or is feeling down, Mia gives her classmate a hug and encourages them. Mia makes wise choices every day and she always brings JOY to our 2nd grade class! It s so encouraging to see how the entire school - from infants to seniors - could be unified in the purpose of helping others through the Oasis Compassion Agency s Food for Families outreach, agreed both Ms. Espina, National Junior Honor Society sponsor and Mrs. Arterburn, National Honor Society sponsor. We increased our total weight of donations by 250 lbs from last year! Three generations work together to share the message of Jesus to children around the world. 242 boxes delivered! thank you!
