Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis YRUU: Young Religious UU s 2014-15 Parent Information & Calendar Save this page for your records * TIME & PLACE The class meets every Sunday from 10:10-11:10 am in the Brown Room of the Fahs House (upstairs go up the exterior stairs on the side closest to the main church building). * FOOD Please do not send kids with food. They should eat before they come The youth coordinator often has water, coffee, fruit, and snacks available in the room. * GENEROSITY The class will be a taking an "Offering" each Sunday with their class piggy bank. They will decide where the money goes--ideally to an organization with UU values. Rather than sending your teen with your money, please encourage them to set aside a small amount of their own money (allowance, babysitting, etc.) for this purpose each week. * ATTENDANCE Regular attendance is crucial for teens to support the goals of this program. Sporadic attendance means the whole group suffers in their ability to bond. Please make this program a priority in your teen's schedule. * R.E. REGISTRATION Your teen must be registered for R.E. or s/he will not be on the attendance sheet, nor will your contact information be part of Rev. Christina s communications list. * E-MAIL Rev. Christina and Paul Berry will communicate with facilitators and parents regularly to remind about upcoming events, sessions, or projects. Please check your email regularly in order to stay in-the-loop about YRUU and any changes to the schedule. * CONs CONs (conferences) are an important central aspect of the YRUU experience. These district-wide events bring teens from several states (MD, Delaware, DC, Pennsylvania) together for a whole weekend of fun, and learning in the context of their UU faith. Most CONs are sponsored by our District Youth Steering Committee of the Joseph Priestley District (JPDYSC) and thus, not coordinated by UUCA or our staff. Two CONs (BAT CON and LepreCON) are congregationally sponsored BAT CON is UUCA s own CON! See the JPDYSC.org website for updates, registration information, and details about the CONs. NOTE: These events are well-supervised by screened adults, and they have covenants of rightrelationship during their time together. However, as with all gatherings, things can happen, especially with 100+/- youth in the same space for two days and nights. Use your own judgment about your teen s readiness to attend these events, and talk to them about your expectations for their behavior. UUCA teens have a history of excellent behavior, and I assume that will continue. * Transylvania Pilgrimage Summer 2015 There will be a UUCA pilgrimage to visit our Partner Congregations in Transylvania, Romania this coming summer. Youth are encouraged to attend, as are families, but this is not an official YRUU trip and teens will not be left out if they cannot attend. If youth are intending to go, there will be sessions scheduled outside Sunday Middle Hour, and there will be fundraising and educational events they need to attend. Details TBA.

Save this page for your records * CALENDAR- Mark your calendars now with these dates so your teen has the highest likelihood of being able to attend. Keep this calendar for your own records. - Sundays, September 7 and 14 Ingathering / First RE Sunday On September 7 at 10:00am we will have our final summer service and our annual Ingathering and Water Communion followed by a community potluck picnic. UUCA adult advisors will be attending and your teen needs to coordinate a designated advisor and a ride to the CON. DYSC information and CON permission forms, etc. are on their webpage: www.jpdysc.org - Friday, October 31 Trunk or Treat 5-8:00pm Fahs House and Fahs Parking Lot The YRUU has helped the past couple of years with our annual Trunk or Treat event, specifically with crafts, the campfire, and the Haunted House. While your teen is helping, consider hosting a trunk (literally the trunk of your car) to hand out treats to the younger kids. - Weekend of November 14-16 UUCA BAT CON UU Church of Annapolis Unlike all other CONs, which are DYSC (district) sponsored, this one is sponsored by our own congregation and planned and implemented by our youth!
