Getting Started We love the question, Where do I start? because everything at Princeton Alliance Church (PAC) starts with Jesus. If you re new to church life, we want to introduce you to Him. If you ve heard of Jesus but haven t experienced His love and forgiveness, we want to show you how you can. If you know Jesus and want to deepen your relationship with Him, we want to walk alongside you on your journey. As your first step toward feeling at home at PAC, stop by our Welcome Center in the main lobby for information and answers to your questions. For a more in-depth look at PAC, attend our quarterly Discover PAC class. Discover PAC Single session offered twice Sunday, September 15 1 3 pm Room 203 Monday, November 18 7 9 pm Room 203 Facilitated by Lead Pastor Boyd Hannold, here you ll learn what we believe and how we work together to carry out the vision and mission of the church. This class is not only informative, it s your first step toward PAC membership. Curriculum provided at no cost Free onsite childcare available on request up to four days prior to the class Register online at princetonalliance.org/classes. Questions? Email adults@princetonalliance.org. 1

Getting Started Once you ve gotten started, we want you to get connected and involved in the life of the church. That s where this Growth Guide comes in. Its purpose is to help you find practical ways to know God, develop community and bring hope. To keep things simple, we ve organized the content that way. So take some time to see how we can serve you, and you can serve others. Opportunities exist for every member of your family. If you need guidance, our pastors are available after any worship service to personally speak to you and pray with you. You can also contact a pastor by email at pastors@princetonalliance.org or by calling the church office at 609.799.9000. 2

Everything we do stems from knowing God and being in relationship with Him. He calls us into His presence for worship, conversation and a continual discovery of who He is. This is where we find the grace, love and strength required for living life to the fullest in Jesus. Worship Worship is our soul s response to what we value most... Jesus. Corporate worship as a church family provides a consistent way for us to celebrate who He is, and to be edified and equipped by hearing His Word. Weekly Services: Sunday, 9:45 and 11:15 am Mandarin Chinese and Spanish translation available at both services Visit the Welcome Center for hearing assistance or translation devices Adults and High School Students Sanctuary Middle School Students (6th 8th grade) Refuel Chapel Children (K 5th grade) Crosswalk Great Room Newborn Preschool Promised Land Near the spiral stairs You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God! Psalm 68:35 36 3

Spiritual Development 2013 Every Word Series Jesus answered, It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 One-hour of weekly worship isn t enough to build a meaningful, powerful, personal relationship with Jesus. Take a moment to let that sink in. We need daily spiritual nourishment. Every day we need to spend time praying, reading Scripture and seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit. These are among the fundamental disciplines of a fully devoted follower of Christ. Because I believe this is critical to the life of PAC, we ve been spending the year reading through the Bible. All of us. Together. Our goal: To develop the daily habit of spending time in God s Word so we can know Him more fully. Printed daily reading plans are available at the Welcome Center and in the lobby literature racks. If you prefer to go digital, you can download the free smartphone app called YouVersion (Bible) by LifeChurch. Or you can visit youversion.com online. In either case we re using the Chronological Bible plan to help us understand the context of the Scripture we read. That means we aren t reading straight through from Genesis to Revelation. Instead, we re reading the Scripture in the order it was written. Each Sunday as we gather for worship, the message relates to a portion of what you read during the week. If you re new to PAC, simply start with the current day s reading. If you fall behind a bit, don t give up. Start again with the current day s reading. Keep in mind that YouVersion also offers an audio option that can help you keep up or catch up. We ve grown as the Body of Christ from this experience. I believe that if we finish the year strong, faithfully reading God s Word and seeking His presence, our lives will be forever changed. Dr. Boyd Hannold Lead Pastor 4

Spiritual Development Adults Because knowing God is at the heart of our mission, we take your spiritual development seriously. We offer two types of classes to adults each quarter: CORE classes and LIFE classes. Our CORE classes are designed to help you grow in your faith. They are fundamental in that they offer you the tools you need to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. CORE classes are for all adults, regardless of your age or stage of life. Although they complement one another, they can be taken in any order. Alliance Core Values The Story: Discovering God s Big Idea The Walk: Learning the Art of Discipleship The Church: Living in Community The Book: Listening to the Voice of God The Mission: Uncovering the Heart of God Our LIFE classes are designed to help you take a Christ-centered approach to the practical areas of life. Children (newborn 5th grade) PAC parents agree that it s important for their children to know and follow Jesus. We believe the church plays a signficant role but parents take the lead. Children s Ministries seeks to partner with you and serve as a resource to your family as you guide your child into a growing relationship with Jesus. We do this through our Promised Land and Crosswalk Sunday programs, Family Time Live! events, special activities, and parents resources available at princetonalliance.org/children. Prayer Talking to and listening to God is a critical part of the Christian life. We need those quiet moments to center ourselves on Jesus and hear His Spirit s voice so we can obediently respond to His leading. Although prayer is a component of all of our activities at PAC, we ve also created some prayercentric opportunities where we gather specifically for this purpose. Global Prayer Service Every Sunday 9 9:30 am Room 202 Each Sunday morning we meet for 30 minutes to pray for our mission partnerships around the globe. This includes missionaries and missional organizations in Brazil, China, Dominican Republic, Exuma, India, New Zealand, Thailand and the United States among others. adults@princetonalliance.org x 27 Pastors All of our pastors faithfully gather to pray for the church family first thing every Monday morning. Although this is a private meeting, if you have a prayer request that you would like our pastors to personally pray for, on Sunday simply take a PAC Connection Card from the pew rack, complete the Pray for Me section on the back, and place the card in the offering plate. You can submit a card as often as you d like. We never tire of praying for you. And don t forget to submit a card when God answers your prayer request so we can praise Him with you. prayer@princetonalliance.org x 19 Shepherds Our Shepherds pray for and minister to those in need of individual prayer at the front of the Sanctuary at the end of any service. Life to the fullest in Jesus involves community. We believe community is best described as a group of believers learning, serving and growing in faith together. Adults Community Opportunities Small Groups Doing life is easier with friends, don t you agree? At PAC, small groups are about getting connected and doing life together. We believe your involvement in a small group is essential to living life to the fullest in Jesus. Why? Because we best learn and grow in our faith when we re encouraged and challenged by those who care about us. We currently offer over 80 active small groups that meet at different times and locations throughout the week. Discussion content varies, but all groups include four key elements: study, prayer, fellowship and service. Join a small group and make friends, grow in your faith and become involved in the life of the church. Starting September 15, visit princetonalliance.org/smallgroups to find a group that s right for you. adults@princetonalliance.org x 27 21
