INITIATION RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA) I do will it. Be made clean. What Jesus does with the leper is not just a miracle. It is a reconciliation of one who is outcast (because of disease) to being restored to membership in the social community. This requires not just the trappings of religious authority to authenticate God s work, but one who has power to bring about such healing. St. Paul bids us to be imitators or Christ. He is asking us to do this same risky worker of reaching out to the unclean who wish to be made whole. As we prepare for Lent with the simplest of gestures in Ash Wednesday, we too confess both that we are unclean sinners, and that God s power to heal and reconcile us is our Good News and Easter confession. There are personal and social sins and actions that distance us from one another and make us unclean. But these imperfections are also an invitation for compassion and for Christ to be at work restoring and reconciling the Body of Christ. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming Catholic and celebrating Baptism, Confirmation and Communion, or if you are from a different denomination and interested in knowing more about being Catholic, please contact Jay Cuasay, Director of Christian Formation at 703-430-0811 ext. 130 or Jay.Cuasay@ctrcc.org. Abstinence from meat is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent and Passiontide and on Ash Wednesday.
