The Healing Touch St Mary s Church Old Town St Paul s Church Highfield SAINT MARY & SAINT PAUL HEMEL HEMPSTEAD Partners within the Hemel Hempstead Team Ministry 30th April 2017 Third Sunday of Easter The Supper at Emmaus Roy de Maitre (1894-1968) Methodist Modern Art Collection We are on that road, and others have walked it before us. For 2,000 years the Church has called men and women to represent Christ on the roads of our lives and break bread, remembering his call to `do this in remembrance of me'. Through them it has invited everyone to partake in a communion which is as much about companionship on the road as it is about consuming - and becoming - the body of Christ. As companions on the way of Christ, we are truly those who walk together and break bread together. RSCM Sunday by Sunday

Canon John THE ROAD TO EMMAUS We thought that everything was lost and gone, Disaster on disaster overtook us The night we left our Jesus all alone And we were scattered, and our faith forsook us. But oh that foul Friday proved far worse, For we had hoped that he had been the one, Till crucifixion proved he was a curse, And on the cross our hopes were all undone. Oh foolish foolish heart why do you grieve? Here is good news and comfort to your soul: Open your mind to scripture and believe He bore the curse for you to make you whole The living God was numbered with the dead That He might bring you Life in broken bread.
