Transcription:

Brief History of Rosa Mystica In a series of apparitions between 1947-1976 Our Blessed Mother appeared to a humble Italian woman, Pierina Gilli, under the title of Rosa Mystica (Mystical Rose) in Montichiari and Fontanelle, Italy. It is believed that the original purpose of these appearances of Our Blessed Mother was to reform the clergy and religious houses of the time. By appearing with the two children of Fatima, Francisco and Jacinta on December 7, 1947, (the sixth apparition) she showed that her appearance was a continuation of the message of Fatima -- urging us to pray the Rosary and do penance. Pierina Gilli was born on August 3, 1911, at Montichiari and worked as a nurse in the hospital there. Our Lady first appeared in the spring of 1947 with three swords each piercing her heart. She said only the words: Prayer, Penance, and Expiation, and was silent. The swords symbolized: lost vocation as a priest or religious, lost grace of religious who live in deadly sin, and lost faith of religious leaving vocations to return to the world. Our Lady Rosa Mystica Hour of Grace In the second apparition (July 13, 1947) Our Lady appeared in a white dress adorned with three beautiful roses: white, red, and yellow which Pierina was allowed to see in place of the swords. The white rose represented a spirit of prayer, the red one represented a spirit of sacrifice, and the yellow rose a spirit of penitence and conversion. Our Lady said, smiling, "I am the Mother of Jesus and the Mother of all of you." Here she paused, then she went on, "Our Lord sends me to bring a new Marian devotion for all male and female institutes, religious orders, and secular priests. I promise those religious institutes, orders, and secular priests who venerate me in this special way my special protection, an increase of spiritual vocations, fewer betrayed vocations, and great sanctity among the servants of God. She wished to have the 13 th of each month dedicated to her, a Day of Mary and each July 13 th celebrated in honor of the 'Rosa Mystica,' the Mystical Rose. In still another apparition Mary asks for the veneration of her Immaculate Heart in religious congregations. For December 8 (every year) she decrees an Hour of Grace for the whole world, to be celebrated at noon. In Our Lady s words, This Hour of Grace will produce great and numerous conversions. Hardened and cold hearts resembling this marble will be touched by divine Grace, and they will become faithful to Our Lord in loyal love. Many graces for soul and body will be received through this devotion. During the same apparition she asks for a statue modeled according to the characteristics of the Rosa Mystica. The Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Laux, founder of the international Maria Rosa Mystica Society, had a private audience with the Holy Father in 1985. Pope John Paul II told Fr. Laux: "I am receiving many reports from Cardinals, Bishops and Missions...reports of Rosa Mystica statues shedding tears, reports of cures and conversions through the Rosa Mystica, reports that people return to prayer and penance through the Rosa Mystica statue of Montichiari." Although six local bishops have expressed their belief in the appearances, so far no official declaration has been made. It is important to note that in 1966, Pope Paul VI approved the new canon law (Canon 1186) which states, It is permissible, even without the express permission of the Church, for the faithful to follow alleged apparitions, prophecies and miracles, as long as they contain nothing which contradicts the Church s teachings or doctrines on Faith and Morals. Because the apparitions in Montichiari and Fontanelle are a matter of private revelation, Catholics are left to decide themselves how much personal spiritual emphasis to place on apparitions and the messages they deliver. The Hour of Grace of Our Lady Rosa Mystica In a series of apparitions between 1947-1976 Our Blessed Mother appeared to a humble Italian woman, Pierina Gilli, under the title of Rosa Mystica (Mystical Rose) in Montichiari and Fontanelle, Italy. It was in one of her apparitions to Pierina that she expressed her wish that the devotion of the Rosa Mystica together with the veneration of my Immaculate Heart to be increased in the religious institutes and the monastic communities, in order that these souls dedicated to God may receive more graces from my motherly heart. Thousands of people were present with Pierina in the Basilica of Montichiari when, on December 8, 1947, Our Lady appeared to request that an Hour of Grace be observed every December 8 at noon throughout the world. This Hour of Grace great and numerous conversions will occur! Souls totally hardened, cold as this marble, will be touched by divine grace, and they will become faithful and God loving again. Many graces for soul and body will be received through this devotion. Our Blessed Mother wishes to lead us to the Lord and above all to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament. She seeks not her own honor but that of her Son. She wishes above all to help bring about the miracle of transformation which is the inner renewal of souls and of the Church in restless and difficult times. In her Immaculate Heart, Mary picks up, as in a splendid chalice of crystal, the streams of light, grace and love from the Most Holy Trinity, and reflects them with immeasurable motherly love upon all her children. She acts as God s treasurer and the Mediatrix of Grace. She, as the Rosa Mystica, wishes most especially to shower an abundance of grace upon those dedicated to God. The Divine Praises Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart. Blessed be His Most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most Holy. Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her glorious Assumption. Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. Blessed be Saint Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints. Closing Hymn HOLY GOD, WE PRAISE THY NAME Holy God, we praise thy name; Lord of all, we bow before thee, All on earth thy scepter claim, All in heaven above adore thee. Infinite thy vast domain, Everlasting is thy reign! (repeat) Hark, the loud celestial hymn; Angel choirs above are raising; Cherubim and Seraphin, In unceasing chorus praising, Fill the heavens with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy Lord. (repeat) 2 11

Psalm 51 Prayer of Repentance (repeat three times) Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness; in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense. Thoroughly wash me from my guilt and of my sin cleanse me. For I acknowledge my offense, and my sin is before me always: Against you only have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight. That you may be justified in your sentence, vindicated when you condemn. Indeed, in guilt was I born, and in sin my mother conceived me; Behold, you are pleased with sincerity of heart, and in my inmost being you teach me wisdom. Cleanse me of sin with hyssop, that I may be purified; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness; the bones you have crushed shall rejoice. Turn away your face from my sins, and blot out all my guilt. A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me. Cast me not out from your presence, and your Holy Spirit take not from me. Give me back the joy of your salvation, and a willing spirit sustain in me. I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners shall return to you. Free me from blood guilt, O God, my saving God; then my tongue shall revel in your Justice. religious for the sake of your loneliness and desolation, which you bore in total obedience,... Save them. religious for the sake of your invincible power of intercession for us,... Save them. religious for the sake of your being the all powerful Mediatrix of all graces,... Save them. religious for the sake of your sorrows and your tears of blood,... Save them. Let us pray: O Almighty and merciful God, who for the triumph of Thy mercy and the salvation of souls hast granted to the Immaculate Virgin Mary unlimited recourse to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, grant, we beseech Thee that by Her prayers and intercession we may avoid the contagion of sin and serve Thee with a pure heart, and that we may live and die in Thy Holy Love. O Lord Jesus Christ, Our Mediator with the Father, Who hast deigned to appoint the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mystical Rose, Thy Mother and the Mother of Thy Church, to be our Mother also and our Mediatrix with Thee, graciously grant that whosoever goes to Thee in quest of blessings may be gladdened by obtaining them all through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Thou Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, one God forever and ever. Amen. O Mother, you are leading the way for us in your love for your Son, Jesus Christ. Together with you, let us help the afflicted religious but especially our priests. They have the most sacred faculty to transform wine and bread into the Body of Your Son; they are the intermediaries between God and us; they bear the great responsibility for our souls. But we are also responsible for the Holy Church to produce holy priests. Help us through Your Immaculate Heart, O sorrowful Mother, who is burning with love for us. Amen. Final Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, You have sent us Your Mother as a wonderful example of holiness and mysticism and especially as an ideal and patroness for the priests and religious. We ask You, grant us Your help to imitate Your Most Holy Mother more and more, to become souls of expiation and victim souls for those priests and religious, who fail You: You who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen. 4 9

For you are not pleased with sacrifices; should I offer a holocaust, you would not accept it. My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit; a heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn. Be bountiful, O Lord, to Zion in your kindness by rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem; Then shall you be pleased with due sacrifices, burnt offerings and holocausts; then shall they offer up bullocks on your altar. 1.
