ON TRACK All are invited to our Mother s Day Breakfast on Sunday, May 10, 2015. Bring the whole family out to celebrate the special women in your lives. Save the date: July 26-30, 2015 6:30-8:30pm for Vacation Bible School. It s going to be a BLAST!! When asked this question, without context, you might say, About what? What follows could be any number of clarifications, Do you believe our sports team is going to win the championship? Do you believe in Santa Claus? Do you believe aliens exist? People believe many things about many things. Do you believe in heaven and hell? Do you believe everyone goes to heaven? What does your church believe? Do you believe in God? That last question is one that the Bible doesn t specifically ask. But variations of that question are all throughout the Bible. From Israel s perspective, and later Christians, belief in God is not the question as much as, How does your belief affect your actions? Adam and Eve believed in God, they also listened to the serpent and listened to their own desires, and disobeyed God. Most Israelites, being led by Moses, believed in God. Many of them also worshipped a golden calf. Most Israelites, at the time of Jesus, believed in God, but many, because of that belief, felt completely justified, having Jesus crucified. Others believed, repented, and followed Him. That willingness or failure to believe Jesus, what He said, who He was, and what that means to each individual is the crux of the matter. But beyond the surface, the deeper question is, How does your belief impact your life? The Bible says that the Demons believe, and shudder. Meaning, they believe God exists, but they have chosen NOT to follow Him. Jesus came to save us, and to teach us more about faith and belief. Jesus taught us more about God, His Father, and more about ourselves. Are you at peace? Who do you trust? Do you know where you are going? Will you go to Heaven? How? This is what Jesus said about that very thing: John 14:1-6 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus said we should trust God and Him. So, do you? In the recent movie, Do you believe? there were people who did not believe in God, and people who did. The movie followed them through everyday life in their particular arena, and how God was showing His presence daily, whether they saw it or not. Believers, however, were confronted with a secondary question, implied, as a follow up, whether out loud, or simply throughout the day, as life unfolded, So, how does your belief affect your actions, right now? So many believers compartmentalize their faith. Meaning, they separate it from the rest of their life. (continued)

M A Y 2 0 1 5 (continued) They have the person who sometimes goes to church, the person who loves to shop and make money, the person who avoids church because of certain offensive people, the person who cusses in traffic, the person who likes to party Saturday night and sleep in on Sunday, the person who struggles with addiction, and the person who is just a good person and doesn t need church. And they are all the same person! So many believers keep Jesus in their comfort zone. There is a Jesus compartment, and they control when He gets to come out. Or, they haven t really let Jesus in at all. His is only a bumper sticker, a t-shirt, or a Facebook post. Well, fortunately for us all, Jesus has a soft spot for sinners. Believers and Unbelievers. He died for us to wash away our sin, but also to set us free. What do you believe when it comes to your faith? Do you have a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Does Jesus have control of every aspect of your life? Meaning, does He want you to be doing what you re doing right now? Well, I hope so, because I wrote this article, hoping that you would read it. We both need to remember that faith without good deeds is dead. So, there s still time for us to do another good thing for God to bring Him glory. He deserves it! Military Appreciation Month The month of May is Military Appreciation Month. We wanted to celebrate that in a couple ways: The first is a campaign to raise funds to support Faith Comes by Hearing, whose mission it is to put Bibles in the hands of those that need them. One of their ministries is providing Bibles in MP3 format on a BibleStick that military service members and their families can take with them wherever they go. We are raising funds to provide those for them. Please give your gift by May 3rd and mark it Military Appreciation. You can even give in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one and we will make up a card for our display. The second way we are celebrating Military Appreciation Month is by sending out care packages to our members, or family of members, currently serving in the military. We just want to send them a little encouragement and thanks. Please make sure you sign the card and see the sign up sheet to see what you can provide to help fill the boxes. If you have questions about this talk to Melani Delgadillo or Debbie Susee. Bridal Shower for Liz Worthley May 2nd, 2015 at 12:00 pm in the Social Hall All ladies are invited to come celebrate Liz Worthley s upcoming wedding and the adventure of her new life with Dave in Southern California. We want to extend our best wishes to her and help her get set up for her new life. Please talk to Pat Oxford or Maggie Hanson (hostesses) if you have any questions about this event. It s All About the Love May 16, 2015 9AM-3PM A Ladies Mini Retreat right here at Dinuba Christian Church. Come spend the day with a bunch of nice ladies and learn how God loves you and how you can pass on that love to others that come into your life. We will have a continental breakfast, some video workshops by Beth Moore, a nice lunch, door prizes and raffles, and great fellowship with godly women. Come join us. It s all about the love!

On Track CHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD I prayed for this child, and the lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. I Sam 1:27,28 Always be aware of the great treasure and potential of your child. Be most concerned about their nurture and growth; but in all areas of development, your child must grow spiritually. Remember, much of what a child learns is caught rather than taught. The reflection of your faith in God will form the lasting image and concept your child will have about God. Attitude is much more important than facts. Telling Bible stories is not enough. Recalling factual knowledge is not what will cause spiritual growth. Children develop deeply held beliefs from attitudes and feelings during the early years. What a child sees and experiences has great significance. Words and phrases that have no meaning are not as effective. Standing alone on the Word of God may mean they are depending on the Bible for guidance to an adult. However, it means something quite different to a child. Recognize and take advantage of opportunities to point a child to God. Often everyday experiences can provide numerous openings to transmit faith to a child. Words like Let s ask God to help us find the road we missed, Thank you God, for good bananas to eat, are teachable moments that have spiritual significance to a child. Allow the Bible and related literature to be ever present in your home. The Bible should be a centerpiece in your home. Books about God and Jesus should be a natural part of your child s growth and development. Allow your child to see you read the Bible and pray. Everyone needs people who love and accept them no matter what. Parents, this is your first and foremost job! A child must know they have value simply for who they are a precious child of God. They must understand that their worth is priceless, no matter what they look like or are able to do. THOUGHT: Have you ever thought about the difference God makes in the life of a child (every person)? Have you ever considered how essential God is to every aspect of life? A child (every person) needs to have their deepest needs met by knowing God made them and loves them very much. All the challenges a child (every person) will encounter in their lifetime can be faced with the knowledge of God s presence in their life. SCRIPTURE: Your love has given me great joy and encouragement. (Philemon 7) May you have a blessed Mother s Day and don t forget Jesus loves you and so do we!!
