PASTOR S CORNER Welcome all Parishioners and Visitors! Happy Lord s Day! Y all, we ve got another awesome Sunday to celebrate this week: Divine Mercy Sunday! When Jesus spoke to Saint Faustina, he gave her many instructions on how to pray. One of them was the following: three times you will recite these words: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. If you celebrated the Triduum with us this year, you may have read a little bit about the origin of this when we did the Reproaches on Good Friday. These are the words of the Trisagion, a hymn originating in Constantinople in the 400 s. During an earthquake, the people of the city were praying for deliverance when suddenly a young boy was lifted up to the heavens. He reported upon his return to earth that the angels had taught him this hymn, the Thrice Holy Hymn. And so the people began to sing these words, and the earthquake abated. HAITI MISSION INC. S 7TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT AND SILENT AUCTION The Haiti Mission Inc., announces its 7th annual Golf Tournament and Silent Auction. The event will be held on Monday, April 25 at Ellendale Country Club. Company, individual and team sponsorships are available. HMI s work is to bring humanitarian aid to the poor of Numero Deux and Ravine Sable in the region of Jeremie, Haiti. Since 1999 the organization has grown to include benefactors and volunteers of many faiths throughout Louisiana, the United States, Canada and Haiti. HMI has enabled thousands in the area served to enjoy potable water with 47 water wells drilled since 2007 and 68 homes have been constructed over the past eight years. So y all, when we sing this, when we beg to be immersed in the ocean of Christ s mercy, we are singing just as the seraphim do! Let us, then, never fear to ask for the mercy of God, because he is waiting to cleanse us with that ocean! Through the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary! Father Mitch Semar
