ANNUNCIATION PARISH CLIFTON, CINCINNATI, OHIO THE SACRED PASCHAL TRIDUUM Triduum is three days. On special days such as these the Church measures time according to Jewish tradition: from sundown to sundown. The Paschal Triduum is the Church's annual three-day celebration of Easter, from sundown Holy Thursday through sundown Easter Sunday. Easter is Eucharist, Passion and Death, Sabbath Rest and Vigil, as well as Resurrection. During this three day observance the household churches come together for the one liturgy - which begins with the Entrance Rites of Holy Thursday, but does not conclude until the Dismissal of the Easter Vigil, the First Mass of Easter. The household churches, as they are able, are asked and encouraged to spend the time between the public gatherings in prayer and reflection, fasting and charity. It is the Passover of the Lord, and with Him we are passing from life through death to resurrection living. Mystical Supper (14th Century) Vatopedi Monastery, Mt. Athos Nailing to the Cross 15th Century Dragomirna Monastery Romania Extreme Humility 16th Century; Russian Resurrection 16th Century; Russian Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. PLEASE BE GENEROUS! For more information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit www.myfranciscan.org/good-friday. Baskets for your donations will be at the altar rail of church as you come forward to venerate the Cross at liturgy on Good Friday.
