It is the only name given under heaven whereby we must be saved. Mother's Day is a t i m e o f r e c o g n i z i n g a n d honoring mothers who are or were, in our lives such as birth mothers, step-mothers, mothers-in-law, g r a n d m o t h e rs, o r s p i r i tu a l mothers. Yet, how many people will simply stop there? How many people will take into consideration all that the Lord says about honoring our mothers? What does the Bible say about the consequences of not honoring our mothers? Exodus 21:12, does not say honor your mother only on a designated day, but we are to give honor to our mothers every day. Not only does God acknowledge the importance of honoring our mother, but on the cross, Jesus passed his responsibility to one of his beloved disciples. John 19:26-27 "When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. Thanks be to our great God, for giving unto us one of the best mothers there has ever been. For she taught us the power of prayer, how to respect our elders, honesty, hard work, to always work, to or ask for what we want - not to take or steal; to love God and man, etc. And we've passed these things on to our children and others in order to make them better men and women for the Lord. Mothers are the child bearers and usually the primary caregivers; and because they have contact with their children over a long growing period, they have an extraordinary effect on them.. This is especially true if she is the sole parent. Fathers are usually not as available as mothers for many reasons: work, careers, financial obligations - to mention a few. But, thanks be to our wonderful God, for mothers and grandmothers like Timothy's in 2 Timothy 1:5. They spent time rearing Timothy - passing down faith in the only true, wise and loving Savior. Thank God for giving us examples of godly mothers and grandmothers in our lives that have p a s s e d d o w n b l e s s i n g s t o us. A Word from Our Editor... By: Sis. Marilyn Silver HOLD ME IN PLACE Greetings dear readers. How are you today? This is a question that will receive various answers; some good and some not so good. However, the question nudges us to think of our well-being. Seriously, how are you today? If we answer concerning our physical well-being we might say, I m fine! If we answer according to our emotional well-being we might say, hanging in there! But, if we answer according to our spiritual well-being we might say I don t know! But, it s our responsibility to examine ourselves and make sure our total well-being is sound. We would like to be healthy in all aspects of our lives, but realistically that is not always the case. There is always work to be done in the mind, body, and soul. Some issues require rest, medicines, exercise and a proper diet. All of our issues require the hand of God to intervene. It takes Him to hold us in place. We need Him to hold us until our minds are clear. He needs to hold us until our emotions stop flip-flopping all over the place. Jesus needs to hold us until our souls get right with God. I find myself saying, Lord, Hold Me In Place! I don t want to be found outside of His will - in whatever I think, do or say. The word of God tells us, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3). Our body, soul and mind can be in perfect peace even when the storms of life are raging. When God holds us in place, it s not about what is happening on the exterior but it s the God in us who calms the wind and raging seas of life. I d like to encourage everyone, (especially our Mothers - this Mother s Day) to allow God to hold you in place. When your responsibilities are overwhelming, don t despair. Our God is bigger than your issues. Hold us, Lord, hold us in place until you come again. Blessings and peace to all. Happy Mother s Day to all Mothers everywhere. Temple Elders Speak... by: Elder Jason Lewis THE INFLUENCE OF A GODLY MOTHER May is the month set aside to celebrate Mother s Day. We thank God for all of the mothers who work hard every day to raise your children to love, reverence and honor God in everything they do. Whether standing side by side with the fathers or standing alone with the Lord, you play a very important role in the kingdom. There are two women in the book of Timothy that I would like to recognize. In 2 Timothy 1:5 the apostle Paul is writing to young Timothy and says" he is reminded of his sincere faith, which dwelt first in his grandmother Lois, and his mother Eunice. These women played a very important role in his life and walk with God, so much so that Paul could see the effects of their influence in his life. 2 Timothy 3:14-15 says, "But continue thou in these things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast Page 2 known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in C h r i s t J e s u s. " Here we see that the sincere faith of these women combined with instructions from God's word started when he was very young. Like Timothy, it was our grandmother s and mother s sincere faith in God that laid the foundation for my siblings and me. We are who we are in Christ because of the women they were in Christ. Never underestimate the power of a Godly Mother. Happy Mother s Day. Love and Blessings. Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

Temple Men Speak CHRIST, THE REAL GAME CHANGER! Throughout history, there have been many individuals who have made significant contributions that, in some way, changed the lives of each and every one of us. No individual, however, has been able to accomplish anything without Jesus Christ. In the book of Acts 17: 28, the word of the Lord reminds us that: In Him, we move and have our being. Over 2,000 years ago, a man called Jesus came down through forty and two generations and walked among us in human form. Although His mother was Mary, He was conceived by the Holy Ghost. According to Philippians 2:7, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being in human likeness. In allowing Himself to be baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus provided us with a wonderful example of Christ s humility. Jesus did not commit any sin, neither was there any guile in His mouth (1st Peter 1:22). According to the scripture Matthew 3:14-15, John tried to defer from baptizing Jesus but Jesus reminded John that this baptism must be done to fulfill all righteousness. Jesus had a spirit of humility. According to the scripture Matthew 23:12, the word of the Lord reminds each of us that: Whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted. In order to save a dying world, God gave us His only begotten son Jesus. Jesus offered Himself up as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and, in doing so, suffered and died a horrendous death. During this process, He was beaten, had His body broken and torn, and shed His blood. Near the end, Jesus hung on the cross groaning in agony for hours and hours until finally taking His last breath, giving up the ghost and dying. Saints, my sins and those of each of you were the reasons that Jesus made the sacrifice and died for us. Without the shedding of blood, there would have been no remission of sins. Prior to His being offered as a sacrifice, the blood of bullocks, goats and burnt offerings were offered, but redemption would only come through the blood of Jesus. Jesus Christ laid down His life and then picked it up again! According to John 10:18, the word of the Lord reminds us that: No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. Jesus reminded us that no one can take His life because only He has the authority to lay down His life and take it up again. Jesus did both in allowing His life to be offered up for our sins and in offering eternal life for those who accept Him. Jesus went into the lower parts of the earth to lead captivity captive. In Revelation 1:18 Jesus reminds us that: He still liveth, was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of death and hell. Being the custodian of death and hell, there is no doubt that all power is in His hands. As a songwriter once wrote, What a mighty God we serve! Angels bow before Him, heaven and earth adore Him, again what a mighty God we serve! In summary, Jesus Christ has set us free, and he that the Son set free is free indeed! Today, as https://vimeo.com/60778224 by: Dea. Jose Brown we watch the news, we see the signs of Christ s coming. The hearts and love of many are waxing cold and there are violent uprisings, wars and rumors of wars, as well as earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes, all happening both at home and abroad. I often think of the time when Jesus was resting within the ship and those on board woke Him up because of the storm and troubled waters. He spoke to the seas and the winds and immediately there was calm. He also cautioned those that had awoken Him of their being fearful and of little faith. But we don t have to worry about anybody or anything because God is in charge of every situation! And in closing, I want to wish a Happy Mother s Day to all the mothers in our church here in Louisa and Mineral, Virginia, as well as to all the mothers in our sister churches in Beulaville and Goldsboro, North, Carolina, Washington, DC, and Maryland. May God continue to bless each and every one of you. Volume 37, Issue 5 - May 7, 2017 Page 3

Temple Women Speak DON T GET DISCOURAGED Discouragement destroys, so naturally, the devil always tries to discourage us. Without hope, we give up, which is what the devil wants us to do. The Bible repeatedly tells us not to be discouraged or dismayed. God knows that we will not come through to victory if we get discouraged So, He always encourages us as we start on a project by saying to us, Don t Get Discouraged. God wants us to be encouraged, not discouraged. Psalm 42:5 (KJV) states, Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/ bc/20/f7/bc20f7265b77bd4b68a4be9d3063755e.jpg Temple Youth Speak Sis. Women are already stereotyped as being weak and vulnerable. Society depicts African American females as ignorant and incapable of achieving and being successful. We are stereotyped as having children at early ages and never finishing school. We are the underdogs, the ones that live off successful men a n d g o v e r n m e n t welfare. E v e r y day young, A f r i c a n American, God -fearing, females are accomplishing their goals and surpassing the stereotypes. This would not be possible without God s help. God is proud to see us achieving wonderful things while giving Him the reverence He deserves. He will continue to bless each one of us in the future if we continue to trust Him wholly. He will give us the strength to be proud of our beautiful sun-kissed skin and our beyond intelligent minds. Please fear God in everything you do and love the beautiful skin God created just for you. O R N E R A R E G I V E R S Why? As a caregiver have you ever asked the question Why? Why did my love one get this awful disease? Why are people older than him walking around seemingly healthy and carefree? Why does this disease have to rob us of the relationship we once enjoyed? Why was I as a caregiver assigned the often discouraging and always challenging task of caregiving? I am sure as a caregiver I consciously or unconsciously asked these questions at one time or another. Seeing my husband deteriorate before my eyes during those caregiving years was very discouraging to me. These are not easy questions to answer, however. We can give general answers to these questions, but the whys of the specifics of our lives sometimes is a mystery. We do know that we live in a broken world. The world was created perfect, but sin entered the world through Adam. Through Christ we as believers are forgiven and restored to a relationship with God. We still do temporarily live in a broken world, however. Hence, we are all called to do what we can do to bring compassion and healing to those who are hurting. Caregivers have a unique calling in this area, as they care for their loved ones who so desperately need their help. So as said before we have some general answers to our why? questions, but we do not necessarily have specific answers to our set of circumstances. We do know God has a master plan, but we do not fully understand why He allows certain painful things in our lives. God never promised us a life free from heartache, however. To the contrary He said that there would be trouble, heartache, and challenges in this life. He also said that He will give us peace in the http://christiancaregiving.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2011-05- 23T14:48:00-07:00&max-results=7&reverse-paginate=true midst of it all. (John 16:33) We further know God uses the challenges to develop our characters and m a k e u s m o r e l i k e H i m s e l f. Knowing these things helps, as we face the challenges and heartaches of caregiving. It does not answer all of our why? questions, however. Some of the answers to these questions will remain a mystery at least in this life. Some of these secret things we do not understand need to be left with God. (Deuteronomy 29:29) This is because God is so much above us that we do not have the capacity to understand God. He just wants us to trust Him. Asking those Why? questions in our caregiving situations is normal. It also reminds us that we are human beings and that we are not ultimately in control. Sometimes caregivers have to fight so hard for the well-being of their loved ones that they may lose sight of the fact that they really are not in control of the situation. Everything ultimately b e l o n g s i n t h e h a n d s o f G o d. Perhaps a better question than the Why? question would be a question like What can I learn through this, and how can I grow through this caregiving experience? Another question might be How can I bring glory to God through this whole caregiving experience? Yet another question might be How can I put one foot in front of the other and c o n t i n u e t o p e r s e v e r e? Dear Caregiver, trust that God has the answers when you do not. He does not give us the answer to all of our questions. Instead, He wants to give us Himself. We also need to trust that He has revealed enough of Himself, so we can live lives of purpose and obedience. Thank You!
