crossofchristlutheran.org CROSS OF CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH 24155 Griswold Road South Lyon, MI 48178 Dear Beloved Members and Friends, (248) 437-8810 A P R I L, 2 0 0 6 Email: crosslut@bignet.net April is a holy month this year. We celebrate Holy Week April 9-16. We commemorate Palm Sunday on April 9 when we celebrate Jesus humble and triumphant entry into Jerusalem. We commemorate Maundy Thursday on April 13 when our Lord instituted His Supper. We commemorate Good Friday on April 14 when Jesus died for all on the cross. We celebrate Easter Sunday on April 16 when Jesus rose from the dead. May God bless our celebration of Lent, Holy Week and Easter! Early in Holy Week, the time had come for Jesus to talk about some important imminent activities. The hour had come for Jesus to be glorified by His death. The time had come for God the Father to glorify His name. The time had come for judgment on this world, for the devil to be driven out, and for Christ to draw all people to Himself. During Holy Week, the hour had come for our Lord to be glorified. Jesus was glorified by His death on the cross. Christ was glorified by His resurrection from the tomb. God the Father glorified His son in His death and resurrection. The time had come for Jesus to produce many followers by His death. Christ, by dying, produced millions of children of God. Our Lord produced many followers by His death on the cross. Jesus produced you as a believer and follower by His death. The time had come for the Father to glorify His name. Jesus heart was troubled by His imminent passion and crucifixion. The reason Christ came to that hour was to die and rise again. Jesus prayed for His Father to glorify His name. God the Father glorified His name by Christ s death and resurrection. The time had come for judgment on this world. Jesus said, Now is the time for judgment on this world. (John 12:31a) By killing Jesus the world pronounced its own death sentence and lost its right to exist. God judged this world guilty when Christ was crucified. Jesus bore the world s guilty verdict on the cross. Christ, the lamb of God, took away the sin of the world. The time had come for Jesus to draw all people to Himself. Christ said, But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself. (John 12:32) Jesus was nailed to the cross and lifted up from the earth on Golgotha. When the Roman soldiers lifted His cross from the ground, Christ was lifted up from the earth. Our Lord drew you and all people to Himself when He was lifted up on the cross. A strong magnet will draw all metal objects in its magnetic field to itself. Jesus lifted up on the cross is a wonderful Magnet, who drew all people to Himself. Christ fulfilled His mission on Good Friday and on Easter Sunday. Our Lord was glorified by His death and resurrection. God the Father glorified His name. God the Father judged the world. Jesus drove out the devil by His death. Christ drew all people to Himself when He was lifted up from the earth on the cross. Our Lord saved people by His death and resurrection.

The time has come to serve and follow Jesus. Let us serve and follow Christ at church, at home, at school, at work, in our neighborhoods, and in our communities. Let us serve and follow our Lord during Lent, Holy Week, and Easter! May God richly bless you and your family during this month of April and always! Sincerely Yours in Christ, Pastor Terry Nelson APRIL WORSHIP SERVICES 2 Sunday 8:00am & 10:30am 5 Wednesday 7:00pm Lent 9 Palm Sunday 8:00am & 10:30am + Holy Communion 13 Maundy Thurs. 7:30pm + Holy Communion 14 Good Friday 7:30pm 16 Easter Sunday 7:30am & 10:30am + Holy Communion 23 Sunday 8:00am & 10:30am + Holy Communion 30 Confirmation 8:00am & 10:30am Sunday + Holy Communion Note: Holy Week evening services will be held at 7:30 p.m., differing from the 7:00 p.m. service time of Wednesday Lenten services.
