There will always be evil. PPQ 2010 (6 marks) R Calvert, Colton Hills Community School 3

There will always be evil. (6 marks) Do you agree? 1. Give reasons for your answer, showing that you have thought about more than one point of view. 2. Refer to religious arguments in your answer. *WHAT ARE YOUR INITIAL FEELINGS* Yes I agree because No I don t agree because R Calvert, Colton Hills Community School 4

A clever way to remember how to present your argument is ~ On the one hand I think there will always be evil because However, on the other hand I don t think there will always be evil because Some religious people may believe that there will always be evil because To conclude I think there will / will not always be evil because.. There will always be evil. (6 marks) R Calvert, Colton Hills Community School 5

On the one hand I think there will always be evil because As long as human beings are free to choose between right and wrong some will choose EVIL. Some humans are greedy, weak, selfish and power hungry. Some people are psychologically disturbed and may have had abuse or neglect in their own childhood. Satan will always tempt people to do evil and his power may be stronger than Gods. People have FREEWILL and can choose to sin. There will always be natural evil ~ caused by nature R Calvert, Colton Hills Community School 6

However, on the other hand I don t think there will always be evil because As long as human beings are free to choose between right and wrong some will choose GOOD. Evil does not need to exist. People need to live by God s laws gain good karma Natural evil could be reduced if WE took the threat to the environment more seriously. R Calvert, Colton Hills Community School 7

Some religious people may / may not believe that there will always be evil because God is MORE powerful (Omnipotent) than the devil ~ and will defeat him. For Christians, the death and RESURRECTION of Jesus proved that he defeated evil. In the Chinese religion of TAOISM you need evil to appreciate good. It s all about balance. Perhaps we need to experience pain and suffering.. It s part of God s test for us to see if we can remain FAITHFUL. We have freewill and can choose good or evil actions. What s the point in HEAVEN (PARADISE) if earth is so perfect? Evil & Suffering reminds us that we need to rely on God.. He is perfect.. We need to pray to him to forgive us our sins. Evil & Suffering is a mystery.. It s part of God s plan. Sikhs are working to eradicate R the Calvert, evils Colton of Hills inequality, Community School through seva. 8

To conclude I think that there will / will not always be evil because R Calvert, Colton Hills Community School 9
