During the past year we have worked very hard at St. John s to make our facilities a welcoming place for all including those with infirmities. This wheel chair symbol is now seen on our website, our bulletin, our parking lot, and in our church. At the front of the two side isles we have removed some of the flexible seating so individuals with wheelchairs and walkers may feel comfortable there or in the front pews of the two main isles. Also, during this past week a construction crew from Murnane Building Contractors began building a ramp to the rectory. This ramp is attached to the side porch of the rectory. With this new addition the Rectory office and first floor will be able to welcome those who find it difficult to climb stairs. In a matter of days St. John s Rectory will be able to be counted among the many other places this symbol is on display in and around our church grounds. Up Coming Events!!! Seton Academy Bulletin News Several students from Seton Academy participated in a project to make "comfort bags" for children who have to leave their homes with very short notice. The students sewed and decorate 30 bags and filled them with special gifts. The gifts were donations from the Seton Academy families and were appropriate for newborns to teenagers. One of the Moms who worked on the project said, "It was humbling but amazing to see our students and parents assisting in the project. They knew that children experience difficult moments in their lives and they were willing to step up and bring love and comfort to them." This project was sponsored by the Faith in Action committee. An Act of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I consecrate myself to Your Most Sacred Heart. Take possession of my whole being; transform me into Yourself. Make my hands Your hands, my feet Your feet, my heart Your heart. Let me see with Your eyes, listen with Your ears, speak with Your lips, love with Your heart, understand with Your mind, serve with Your will, and be dedicated with my whole being. Make me Your other self. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, send me Your Holy Spirit to teach me to love You and to live through You, with You, in You and for You. Come, Holy Spirit, make my body Your temple. Come, and abide with me forever. Give me the deepest love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus in order to serve Him with my whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Take possession of all my faculties of body and soul. Regulate all my passions: feelings and emotions. Take possession of my intellect, understanding and will; my memory and imagination. O Holy Spirit of Love, give me an abundance of Your efficacious graces. Give me the fullness of all the virtues; enrich my faith, strengthen my hope, increase my trust, and inflame my love. Give me the fullness of Your sevenfold gifts, fruits and beatitudes. Most Holy Trinity, make my soul Your sanctuary. Amen. June 1, 2010 Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, The weekend of June 12-13, 2010 our diocese will be participating in the annual combined Collection for the Catholic Communications / Catholic University of America Appeal. Supporting Catholic Communications is important for the Church, particularly in today s fast-paced world. Proceeds from this collection help keep us connected to our Church no matter where we are through all the communications media we use every day. The Catholic Communications Campaign provides faith-centered television and radio programming, Catholic news, such as our own diocesan newspaper, the North Country Catholic, helpful marriage and family resources, audio versions of the daily Scripture readings, and so much more. These services, delivered in a wide variety of ways, help keep us current in Church news and foster our growth in the faith. As you know, some of the proceeds collected in this appeal are used to fund local communications efforts within our diocese. The Catholic University of America is also assisted in this combined collection. Founded in 1887, the Catholic University of America is the nation s only higher education institution established by the U.S. Bishops. Each year, it turns to the general Catholic population of our country to aid in its important mission of providing solid Catholic education for its students. Please be as generous as your means allow to the Catholic Communications/Catholic University of America Campaign in your parish collection. We need your support to remain a strong voice in today s world as we continue to spread the Good News through all media. With gratitude for your generous spirit and pledge of prayers for you and your loved ones, I am Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Terry R.
