London/Jerusalem Departure The Dates 10 Days Monday 8th to Wednesday 17th OCTOBER 2018 The Itinerary With focus on the main Christian sites and times of leisure and reflection. Day 1/ Monday 8th Oct. Meet and check-in at Luton airport for the direct flight to Tel Aviv. Meals and full in-flight services will be offered en route. On arrival, travel by private coach up to Jerusalem to stop on Mount Scopus for a first sight of the Old City. Then to the nearby hotel for room allocation and the evening meal. in JERUSALEM
Jerusalem/Bethlehem Bethlehem Day 2/ Tuesday 9th Oct. By coach for the best part of the day; Pool of Bethesda Through St. Stephen s gate to see where the cripple was healed by Jesus and St. Anne s Crusader Church with its unique acoustic. Calvary Visit the Judgement Hall underneath the Ecce Homo Convent where Pilate tried Jesus; follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and Calvary. Jerusalem Model Built on a scale of 1-60 from the Gospel period and very helpful in getting Jerusalem together. Herod s Palace On to the Herodium - Herod s desert Winter Palace that dwarfed Bethlehem in antiquity. Christian Ministry A visit to the Bethlehem Rehabilitation Center to learn of its work in the local community and lunch. Shepherds Fields On to the pastoral regions of Bethlehem where the Angels announced the birth of Christ. Manger Square Close the day with a visit to the Church of the Nativity - built over original cave-dwellings from Gospel days. in JERUSALEM Holy Sepulchre
Olivet/Mt. Zion Jerusalem Olivet/Gethsemane Day 3/ Wednesday 10th Oct. Part on foot and part by coach; Temple Mount Up to Mount Moriah where the Jewish Temples stood and Jesus taught. See the Dome of the Rock, Al Aksa Mosque and the Golden Gates. Mount of Olives To the summit for an impressive panorama of the Old City and hear something of its great history. Garden of Gethsemane Amble down the hillside stopping at the Tear-Drop Chapel (Dominus Flevit) and on to the Garden of Gethsemane, Church of all Nations, for reflection. Mount Zion On to the Mount and see the Upper Room, and Dormition Abbey. Then to nearby St. Peter s Church - built over the remains of the Palace of Caiaphas where Jesus was imprisoned. Lunch break in the Old City. The Western Wall Through the Old City to witness Jewish prayers and traditions that take place day and night. Dead Sea/Masada Rift Valley Dead Sea/Masada Day 4/ Thursday 11th Oct. Most of the day by coach; Herod s Masada Down to the shores of the Dead Sea to ascend by cable-car 400 meters to the summit of the mountain. Hear the dramatic account of Jewish Zealots withstanding the Roman army after the fall of Jerusalem in AD70. Dead Sea Bathe Time to experience floating in the unique medicinal waters at Kalia by Qumran. Dead Sea Scrolls Call at the Caves of Qumran where the scrolls were found by the shepherd boy in 1947 - view a media presentation and a lunch break. The Wilderness Enter Wadi Kelt to see sections of the old Jericho road on which the Good Samaritan story was probably based. Jerusalem/Jericho Jordan Valley The Jordan River Day 5/ Friday 12th Oct. The Journey to Galilee; Garden Tomb Start the day in the tranquil gardens and see a 1st century rolling-stone tomb and Gordon s Calvary nearby. Jericho Down the Jericho road and through the wilderness to stop in the oasis town that Jesus passed through. See the fallen walls associated with Joshua, the Mount of Temptation. Jordan River On to the banks at Bethany-beyond-the Jordan where John baptised. Gospel Galilee Day 6/ Saturday 13th Oct. Part by Boat and part by coach; Lakeside Tabgha Lakeside Mount Arbel To the summit for impressive views of the Sea of Galilee northern Gospel shores. Sailing Galilee A private sail in a wooden boat of the kind that the disciples used from Tiberias to the northern shores - stopping the boat mid-way for a demonstration of fishing techniques. Mount of Beatitudes Up to the hillside overlooking the sea where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Tabgha (Mensa Christi) Down to the shores where Jesus made breakfast for the disciples in his resurrection appearance. Capernaum Time in Jesus Galilean Centre and see the remains of a 1st century synagogue and Peter s House - Private Communion Service by the sea. by GALILEE
Holy Land Golan/Mt. Hermon Day 7/ Sunday 14th Oct. The day by coach in upper Galilee; The Golan Heights Into the Yarmuk Valley and ascend the heights to the Peace View overlooking the lake where its full contours can be seen. St. Paul s Road to Damascus Stop at Quinetra in the region where Paul was converted. Caesarea Philippi On to the nearby location where Jesus took the disciples and challenged Peter. Private Communion service by the shadow of Mount Hermon in the nature reserve. Biblical Dan Close the day on the borders of ancient Phoenicia at the northern Israelite capital of Dan to Beersheba fame. Follow the nature trail to the Canaanite Gate and Altar of Sacrifice. Nazareth/Cana Lower Galilee Day 8/ Monday 15th Oct. THE MORNING; Mt. Precipitation Just outside Nazareth where from the summit a fine panorama of the great Jezreel Valley and Armageddon plain is enjoyed. Nazareth Town A visit to the Church of the Annunciation built over the original village of Gospel days. Then call at Christchurch nearby to meet with the local Anglican community and learn of their ministry in the area. The Nazareth Village A helpful media presentation and conducted tour with explanations of this landscaped area displaying rural village and farming life in ancient days. Cana Returning to Galilee, visit one of the churches commemorating Jesus attending the Wedding Feast. Holy Land By the Mediterranean Day 9/ Tuesday 16th Oct. By coach west to the Med. Acre A visit to the Pauline port (Ptolamis) to visit the Crusader underground area; then a walk through the fish markets; on the City Walls; and time by the harbour. Caesarea Maritima Follow the shores of the Mediterranean sea to see Herod s massive sea port and capital where Peter preached, Paul was imprisoned and Cornelius served in the Roman Army. See the aqueduct, Citadel and amphitheatre. Mt. Carmel Up to the summit and the church commemorating Elijah s encounter with the prophets of Baal.
