Additional Information Please add here, or on another sheet, anything else which you would like the Patron and the Bishop to know about the conditions, needs and traditions of the parish. The congregation of St John's aims to worship God and glorify Christ by serving the Community and encouraging people to know Christ. We would like to increase mission work and lay ministry involvement in order to see Church growth. We feel that our strengths lay in the welcoming, comfortable, accessible and adaptable environment in which we worship; the pastoral care for members of our Church Family and community in which we live and work and the 6

work carried out through our industrious teams who monitor finance, buildings and maintenance, pastoral and communication. These teams are made up of both PCC and lay members. There is a strong sense of fellowship amongst our church members and home groups who meet weekly. We have a very generous congregation and everything we do at St John's is grounded in prayer and biblical teaching. Our weakness is in encouraging young people and young families to come to know God. The expectancy of Clergy / Lay relationships would be for patience; to have an honest forgiving and sympathetic nature; to have a desire to be a Team leader and to encourage partnership with lay ministry. The church building is comfortable and in a good state of repair. The cost of running it is a challenge due to there being few people of working age in the congregation. Most are on a fixed income and so are less able to respond to inflation. Being retired means that the congregation is time rich, thus enabling strong fellowship and Pastoral Care. X. The New Priest List the qualities and skills you would like to see in the new priest. Essential qualities for A New Incumbent We would like to appoint someone who has a heart for mission, is able to provide strong leadership and knows and loves God and people. He / she would ideally have experience of working within a Parish / Joint Benefice setting, and would encourage Christian discipleship through meaningful preaching and bible-based teaching, in order to promote Church growth with enthusiasm, inspiring confidence in those around him/her. Desirable To be able to lead and be comfortable with both traditional and contemporary forms of worship. To lead prayerfully, teach, listen, encourage and inspire whole Church Mission and growth. To be approachable, understanding and flexible in personal communications. To work as part of a team and be supportive of lay involvement and ministry. To guide support and encourage our pastoral care and development work. Agreed by the PCC of St John the Evangelist, Warley, Halifax on Sunday 15th October 2017 Signed: Print Name: Mrs Yvonne Moore Office Held: PCC Secretary This form, duly completed, should be sent to: The Administrator for the Designated Officer Deborah Thorley Diocese of Leeds, Church House 17-19 York Place, Leeds, LS1 2EX deborah.thorley@leeds.anglican.org She will circulate copies to the Patron, Bishop and Archdeacon Please keep copies of this form and ensure that all PCC members have a signed copy. 7
