This week we continue with our 49 th edition of PROFILES. This week we spotlight the Bar Mitzvah boy Moshe Froom. TCS: Mazel Tov on your Bar Mitzvah. How are the preparations going? Moshe: Quite well. I enjoy the lessons as Mr Stoll is a good teacher. TCS: Any similarities between performing on the ice rink and performing on the bimah? Moshe: Bimah gets me nervous. On the ice, my opponents are nervous. TCS: Do you have any siblings? Moshe: Three brothers and two sisters.i am the fourth of six. There is Dani who is turning 20, Gabi 18, Benji 16, Shaina 9, and Eitan 5. TCS: What are you known for in the family? Moshe: Being the most annoying in the family. TCS: Is that an unfair label to be tagged with? Moshe: No, I agree with them and take some pride in it. TCS: Which school do you attend? Moshe: Ohr Haemet. I was born Ashkenazi but I am a Sephardi kid in training. I feel like I fit in. TCS: What is your favourite subject in school? Moshe: Math. I find it easy. Science is my least favourite. TCS: Do you have any hobbies? Moshe: All sports. TCS: The Frooms are quite the athletic bunch. Your Dad in particular has an impressive reputation as a tennis and squash star. Which spice goes best with squash soup? Moshe: I don t eat squash soup. I like hot stuff. TCS: Which sports do you participate in? Moshe: I play hockey and basketball.in hockey, I am on the Select team and play center and am captain of the team so I have to give motivational speeches. In basketball,i play point guard for my school.the position fits my personality. TCS: The point guard is the general on the basketball court. Are you a natural born leader or is it a coincidence that you have been thrust into these leadership roles? Moshe: It comes naturally to me. TCS: Do you follow any sports?
Moshe: I am a Leafs fan. TCS: Your choice of tickets to the Grey Cup, Wimbledon, Stanley Cup game 7, World Series game 7, NBA final game 7, Super Bowl or front row seats to see the upcoming chulent cook-ff. Which do you choose? Moshe: Stanley Cup game 7 without a doubt. TCS: Are you more like your Mom or your Dad? Moshe: More like my Dad because he is into sports. TCS: Which parent is tougher? Moshe: It changes depending on the situation. Abba Froom: I am learning some things here. TCS: What are your summer plans? Moshe: I am going back to the Zone for the 2 nd year. I would love to try horseback riding. I tried it previously in camp as well as in Israel. TCS: What do you want to be when you grow up? Moshe: Not a clue. TCS:You dad says you have a great sense of humor. Can you describe your style? Moshe: I am a corny joke type of guy. I am definitely the jokester in the family. TCS: Getting into the Pesach mood, what is your favourite of the 10 plagues? Moshe: Darkness. No one else could even move but the Jews could do what they wanted to. TCS: Something about you, that makes your Abba and Ima proud? Moshe: My grades. Dad: His being a mensch. Moshe also makes a great effort in everything that he does. Mom: He is always respectful and tries his hardest. TCS: Tell us something that even friends might not know about you. Moshe: I have not secrets. My friends and family know all there is to know. What you see is what you get. TCS: A stand-up wysiwyg type of guy. Corporate jargon for a mensch. TCS: So Stuart our president elect is busy this week with March Madness, betting some of the shul surplus funds on the brackets. Go Virginia. Oops. While he is away, we are making you president for the week. What changes will you make? Moshe: I would add a basketball court on the roof. TCS: Can we add some safety rails? Parents can be fussy about their kids falling off roofs. Moshe: No problem.
THIS WEEK SHABBAT HAGADOL DRASHA
Sholosh Seudot You Gotta be Kiddin Me Halacha Discussion Shimon bought Reuven s used car and was annoyed to see that Reuven had removed the GPS unit that was there when he had first seen the car. I thought the GPS was included in the price of the car, he said What do you mean? asked Reuven. The GPS Is not part of the car. Why should it be included in the sale? Just because you saw the GPS attached to the front window, you had no right to assume that it was included. Ideally, they should have made the point clear at the time of the sale. Had they done so, they would have avoided needless annoyance and confusion. Now that they failed to do so, who is right? Can a GPS be assumed to be included in the price of a used car, if no mention of it was made at the time of the sale? What is the Answer? Discover the answer with Rabbi Rothman at Shalosh Seuda ~
