About Passport Passport is NCCC s short-term mission program. Through the Passport program, NCCC identifies and promotes trips to our missionaries and global partners to achieve God s plan for our church and for this world. Our strategy for Passport can be stated as: Partnership NCCC s relationships with the global church are collaborative with both parties giving and receiving in the areas of prayer, Bible teaching, encouraging, emergency relief, human rights & justice, compassion projects, training & education, and commitment of resources. Passport allows us to participate in the blessing of giving and receiving. Discipleship Passport s goal to provide opportunities for our church body to fulfill the great commission: Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). Also, we recognize that as we fulfill the great commission, we become more committed disciples of Christ. Encourage and Equip We have established Passport as a way to encourage and equip those planning to serve so that they, in tern, can encourage and be a part of God s work in the global church. Our values Passport illustrates the NCCC values of a church without walls, a church transformed to Live in Christ, Live out Christ, and a church that learns from the global body of Christ. A Church Without Walls NCCC seeks to be a church without walls; a church whose believers are actively displaying Christ s nature and style daily in our lives, our community and in the global church. Passport allows us to cross real and perceived boundaries as we participate in the global church, not just observe it. A Church Transformed to Live in Christ, Live out Christ Short-term mission s trips are a premium tool of discipleship that God uses to transform us into a better understanding of who He is and who we are in Him. By participating with the global church through Passport, we are able to "Live in Christ," as we live in relationship with Him and are transformed by His truth and love and to "Live out Christ," as we reach out to others with the nature and truth of Christ s love. A Church that Learns from the Global Church We believe we have more to learn from the global church than to give to the global church. We learn from the global church s devotion to Christ, their methods in sharing the Gospel, their great love of community and hospitality, their joy in simply serving Christ, and in many countries their deep level of personal sacrifice. Participating in a Passport mission trip offers our entire congregation not just those who serve an opportunity to be a part of God s work. It is a privilege and responsibility to serve on a Passport trip and to partner with the global church.
Passport Teams Passport teams are generally comprised of 6 to 20 team members who have a passion and calling to serve in a particular country or ministry area. Generally, teams begin meeting 4 to 6 months before the departure date to pray, organize, build team unity and to maximize the time in country with targeted ministry opportunities. Leaders of Passport trips have been carefully selected to combine the optimal mix of pastoral and administrative oversight. Not only are the details of every Passport trip carefully organized and prepared, but special care is taken to ensure that leaders contribute to the spiritual growth of the team both before, during, and after a trip has concluded. About Funding and Financial Support Passport trips are self-funded mission opportunities. As such, costs associated with the trip are your financial responsibility. We request that all funds be raised and submitted to NCCC 30 days prior to the trip departure. Your team leader will provide additional information and ideas on raising financial support. Please begin your fundraising activity only after you have been notified of acceptance to the team. If you are unable to participate on the trip for any reason, please notify your team leader as soon as possible. Unfortunately, monies put towards mission trips are considered contributions by the IRS and are non-refundable (the IRS prohibits the refund of contributions). Procedures for this Application 1.
