What is positive, life giving, and joyful in your community? Church community, residents, the projects like Ida B Wells pride because of name associated with community looking at lake Sunrise and sunset New structures and grocery stores New Art and Recreation center across the street Named communities are source of pride and joy even Englewood Some feel danger others experience relationship Historic Bronzeville known for jazz Manner in which communities brought to relate Politicians can bring together Joy and safety in certain community when older respect for seniors Church gives joy and positive sense Schools IIT, charter schools, U of Chicago that are close by Community center Food diversity Grocery stores Jewel and Mariano s Access to transportation L and bus routes New access to lake front 35 th Street pedestrian bridge Playground on 31 st street now skate board park McCormick place New rec center Sunrise service possibility because of easy access to lake front Farmer markets More community involvement and activism Big nice schools Dress kids in uniforms Children become more productive
Families going to church Positive values and bring back good standards Peaceful protest like women s march People live in harmony Church events and gatherings Small business support More cooperative economics Obama library Institutions give us joy churches, libraries, park districts, schools What a wonderful site to see children going to school Opportunities for fellowship like this one Music that brings joy to community Bud Billiken parade Cubs winning world series Joy from recreation center Food pantry at Sixth Grace brings joy Caring neighbors Bible study Friendly community, care for each other Treat with respect Children New businesses, construction, homes, beautification, senior buildings and activities Art and recreation center Churches Shelters for homeless Generosity to less fortunate they are part of community Community Conversations a joy New friends and old friend God s daily blessings
What is within our grasp right now to build love in our communities? Come together, picnics, health fairs, listen to one another, bible studies Look after sick and shut-ins Give communion to people who are homebound Be aware of needs of people Eat dinner together focus on each other Limit use of electronic devices Include one another Courtesy Prayer Volunteer efforts Embrace God in our hearts Possess love in our hearts Churches as places of worship Practice our faith in and through love We have ourselves to be used as God s instruments Stand up for rights of others Follow through from this forum Choose to build lives here Targeted outreach lake road and places around us Positive attitude about community and church and develop it Have ability to interact Model ourselves as members of sixth Extend a hand Host events and welcome folks Community service evangelism reach out Business card for Sixth Grace to present to others
