AT THE PRESENTATION: The Doxology 424 LASST UNS ERFREUEN THE COMMISSIONING OF THE 2015 HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TEAM LEADER: As Christians we are to make the love of God known to all people. We hear this in the words of Jesus: I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13: 34-35). From this new commandment to love, to Jesus final command to Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, (Matthew 28:19-20) we hear the command to go and love.
Today, we celebrate and commission the High School Youth Group as they join with other persons on mission to Harlan County, Kentucky with Appalachia Service Project. Through the gift of your service and love, you show others the infinite love that God has for all people. This is both a privilege and a responsibility, and we ask that you now publicly affirm your commitment to God s work. Will you accept the persons whom you serve right where they are and just the way they are? TEAM: We will, with God s help. LEADER: Will you seek to work in glad cooperation and mutual support with each other, being sensitive and helpful according to the needs of those around you? TEAM: We will, with God s help. LEADER: Will you answer the call to live in God s word, demonstrating your love of Jesus Christ? TEAM: We will, with God s help. LEADER: Will you seek to grow by nurturing the seeds planted within you by God and by this family of faith, wanting to be good stewards of the gifts given to you? TEAM: We will, with God s help. THE PRAYER OF COMMISSIONING LEADER: Sisters and Brothers, I present to you our High School Youth Group whom we have commissioned to participate in the Appalachia Service Project in Harlan County, Kentucky.
