4 March 25, 2018 SVDP WHERE DO YOUR ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY DONATIONS GO? Over 99% of your donations to the SVdP Society help people with emergency needs, who live within surrounding ZIP codes of St. Joseph Church, as well as any parishioner, regardless of where they reside. Most clients are just like you, but have encount- ered a situation such as loss of a job, an accident or family illness, a death or some other problem. When our hotline is called, two volunteers visit with the clients in their homes, bringing food if our volunteer who staffs our phone advises that it is needed and tells us the size of the family. The team conducts an interview to ascertain all of the client s needs and the scope of problems each has. We then determine if paying all or part of a needed bill, such as helping with rent, utilities, auto repairs, is needed. We do NOT give them money, but we are authorized to help pay their creditors directly, up to a limit, set by our Board of Directors. For needs beyond what we can offer we help them obtain additional funding through about a dozen other charitable groups. We negotiate away late charges and provide clients with information they need to recover from their emergency needs. We maintain a list of local job opportunities and personally try to help them overcome their setbacks. We can do all this, thanks to our parishioners who donate money and food to these people, through us, the SVdP volunteers of St. Joseph s. If you would like to learn more about volunteering, call our Hot Line at (682) 429-8231 with no obligations. Are you unable to attend Sunday Mass? Do you know someone who is homebound and wished to receive the Eucharist? If you, a loved one, or another parishioner you know are unable to celebrate Mass with the parish community, weekly communion can be brought to your home by a lay pastoral minister. Please call the parish office for information. MISSION TO PATZUN COMING SOON St. Joseph parish is returning to our sister community in Patzun, Guatemala June 11-15, 2018. We have openings for medical professionals and others called to see the school so many have supported over the past 12 years and an opportunity to meet your children. Also, we need help with medical clinics, playing with the children, visiting homes and praying with the poor. Every morning the Carmelite sisters, the teachers and the students pray for St. Joseph sponsors, our parishioners, and our special intentions. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to a spiritual experience that will be life changing. Please call Jean Meehan at 817 994-0718 for more information or questions. God bless you for your years of prayers and support. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) Program Have you thought about joining the Catholic Church?
